Each student chose a simple question as a starting point for a deep exploration of myriad social topics. Acting as an after school club, our event is the culmination of a year-long effort driven entirely by students.

Aly G.

Aly, a presenter, is a unique character. At fourteen, he is not the stereotypical teenager (loud, rebellious, out of control). Born in Amsterdam, Aly has gone on a safari and loves eating sushi. He joined TEDxYouth last year as an intern and wanted to continue the experience this year as a speaker.

Anna B.

Fourteen year-old Anna can make anyone smile without even trying. When she get older, she wants to be an English teacher, an author, and a photographer. TEDxYouth will help her to realize her professional goals. Her dream is to become a published author. She will, no doubt, do great things and impact the world in a positive way.

Bella C.

Isabella would enjoy living near the calm serenity of the sea where whe will be able to enjoy gorgeous sunsets. She appreciates the beauty in life and is able to enjoy the little things that make life worth living.

Carmel B.

Carmel, a fourteen year-old girl, describes herself as, "funny and outgoing". Carmel want to one day be a world traveller and publish a travel book. Her reason for getting out of bed every morning is to travel the path towards fulfilling her dreams and one day understanding herself. If she could, Carmel would switch lives with Steven Spielberg.

Jack Q.

At thirteen, Jack describes himself as, "creative and humorous." Born in the Big Apple, he aspires to one day be a CIA agent. He has faith in his ability to achieve success and accomplish his dreams. Jack joined TEDxYouth at LCJSMS to increase his knowledge of current events and ideas. He wishes to participate in TEDxYouth again next year.

Jane D.

Jane is an amiable, self-motivated person. She knows that there is plenty of time to decide what she wants to be when she gets older. Although currently unsure of what her ultimate accomplishments will be, she is determined to accomplish many things.

Julia O.

Julia loves it when friends have fun together. However, she also know the value of hard work and realizes that success does not come from dreaming but from a strong work ethic. She also appreciates the beauty of a sunset. That ability to value the small things in life makes her a happier person.

Kyra G.

Thirteen year old Kyra's ideal day is spent with friends. Although she is a very determined young woman, that does not stop her from having fun. In the future, Kyra wants to live in a city where "the action happens." She knows that her hard work will one day pay off.

Lily M.

Lily is a self-described "perfectionist." She has enough patience to wait until her work is absolutely perfect; however, she knows where to draw the live. In the future, she either wants to be a pediatric dentist or to work for Google. She loves to spend time with her friends and have fun. Lily is fun to be with.

Renee H.

Renee is a thirteen year-old who is creative and talkative. Being an emotional, sincere, and optimistic person, she tried to maintain a positive energy. Her friends and family make her happy. She joined TEDxYouth because it is a program that will help her expand her writing and public speaking skills. She hopes to be in TEDxYouth again next year.
