Alia Eyres

Alia Eyres is the Chief Executive of Mother’s Choice, a local non-profit organisation with the vision to see no girl or baby left alone in Hong Kong. Mother’s Choice provides and promotes loving, nurturing care for babies and children needing permanent homes, and for single girls and their family facing crisis pregnancies. Daughter of two of the Mother’s Choice co-founders, Ranjan Marwah & Phyllis Marwah, Alia was born and raised in Hong Kong and she and her six younger siblings were exposed the work of the organisation from a young age. Determined to make a difference, the mother-of-two left her legal career and joined Mother’s Choice as the CEO in 2012. Today Alia is passionate about joining hands with the community to transform lives and bring hope to vulnerable babies and girls.

Andrew Smith

“The Funniest Balloon Man In The World” Originally from the UK, Andrew Smith has been a regular Hong Kong dweller for twenty five years. Dubbed ‘the funniest balloon man in the world’, Andrew has taken balloon art and twisted it into a bright career. His impressive list of former appearances include a variety of international events, such as film premiere parties for Disney’s Pixar, Warner Brothers, and Paramount Pictures, and numerous private events entertaining royalty and celebrity birthdays, family events and weddings. Andrew says ‘It’s not about the balloons…it’s about the entertainment, the balloons are but a tool to enthral the audience.’

Emmanuel Milia Mankura

The Maasai is a group of semi nomadic tribe from southern Kenya, where they are famous for their fearsome reputation as warriors and herders – this is where our speaker Emmanuel Milia Mankura is from; he is the Tribal Elder of the Maasai. Emmanuel uses his own life stories and powerful metaphors to talk passionately about many of the challenges he has faced in his tribal community in East Africa, which have direct relevance to some of the business and personal challenges we face today, such as developing leadership, empowering others to take responsibility and creating a culture which is motivated, value based and embraces change. Emmanuel was born in a small village in a remote part of Rift Valley in Kenya, he was raised in the traditions and values of the Maasai Tribe. As a young boy he was responsible for looking after sheep and goats, when he became a warrior he carried a spear, went on cattle raids and was responsible for protecting his community’s territory and live stock.
