Theme: Life in Motion

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anıl Kangal

“After seeing the monotone office routine that work life brings, I quit my job and have been travelling the world ever since.” Anıl Kangal has been travelling the world learning different cultures, and gaining new perspectives since she quit her job; she is living life in motion with its every beat.

Hakan Günday

Born on the 29th of May 1976 in Rhodes, Hakan Günday completed his elementary school years at Brussels. Then moving to Ankara, he finished school and university in Ankara. Günday’s first novel “Kinyas and Kayra” established his initial audience.

James Boon

Boon is the founder of Elephant Branded. After working in Africa and Asia, he was stunned by the basic lack of equipment. James wanted to make a difference. Thus; he sells Elephant Branded products and each product sold donates something that aims to make a positive contribution to children in Africa or Asia.

Mert Derman

Mert Derman is working as a software development manager in Ankara. He started running at age 33 after a nearly sedentary life. After finishing couple of marathon races he decided to run longer distances and ran some ultramarathon races. Now he keeps training and adding miles to his distances. Running long distances he realized that he should cross train, so he added swimming and cycling to his sports life. Then, he did Olympic and middle distance triathlons and finally finished a full ironman race in 2014. He loves sharing all his experience and knowledge, therefore he has a blog, and also he writes in an online magazine and hosts a podcast about running. As a part of sharing his experience and knowledge, and also for motivating other people, he gave this speech in a TEDxBLIS event.

Murat Bür

Murat started his sports life by wearing his first Bursaspor football shirt. He is a fully motivated sports trainer; by supporting training sessions using the athletes own body weight, he aims to form a thinner and muscular body through natural ways. He also adds to his passion for his profession by giving healthy food recipes.

Nasuh Mahruki

Born May 21st, 1983, Nasuh Mahruki is the co-founder and president of the AKUT association. He is a professional mountain climber, writer, and photographer, along with a documentary film manager. Nasuh is also the only Turk to climb the 7 summits and be awarded the snow leopard title.

Sena Üstüner

Sena Üstüner is a junior studying at Bilkent Laboratory International School. Although the daughter of an engineer couple, her interests consist of literature and social sciences. She has particular interests in sociology, economics and art history. She is a very active MUNer and a piano player. In terms of sports she enjoys windsurfing and snowboarding. She speaks English, Turkish and intermediate French.

Şilan Çelebi

Şilan Çelebi is a 17-year-old junior student at BLIS who identifies herself through her passion for helping others. Despite her stage fright, Şilan has decided to push herself out of her comfort zone in order to share this passion with everyone at the event. She is aspiring to study human rights law in the future. Her main interests include literature, travelling and music.
