Founder and Team Lead AfriGal Tech team A group of four ladies passionate about creating innovative software health solutions for the African community.They won the Imagine Cup National Finals 2014 and went on to represent the country at the World Finals in Seattle.Currently working on a project to diagnose Sickle Cell Anaemia using a mobile phone. mDex is a mobile sickle cell diagnosis tool comprising a mobile app and external compound lenses. That mobile app allows for quick, easy and affordable diagnosis of sickle cell disease. She is a finalist at Makerere University pursuing Software Engineering
Dr. Paul Kasenene
Dr. Kasenene is a qualified medical doctor, Nutrition educator and Professional Speaker on Health, Lifestyle and Wellbeing. He has a strong belief that natural medicine can support your body (physically, mentally and spiritually) to be well and heal itself of illness and disease without the harsh side effects of drugs used by conventional medicine. He is a member of the technical working group of Non communicable diseases in the Uganda Ministry of Health, the Institute of Functional medicine, USA, the corporate health and wellness association of America and many other professional bodies. Joanita Akello
A journalism Major, the President of AIESEC in Uganda and a Youth leader, Joanita has apassion of working to empower and encourage young people in being the leaders that today’s world needs, and also be global citizens.Joanita’s passion of empowering young people led to her role as President of AIESEC in Uganda. Her biggest inspiration is being able to empower and encourage young people to have an active participation in youth leadership in Uganda, and most importantly, taking charge of their own lives and future. Through working with AIESEC, she and her team push for a well rounded relevant youth leader; and for this to happen, the youth need to become more self aware, entrepreneurial minded, and be a part of creating change in not only their local communities, but also other communities.
Lisa Katusiime
Lisa Katusiime, a graduate from Makerere University with a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering is the co-founder of Likamis Software Limited, a company with a vision of empowering farmers with innovative platforms in order to achieve a transformed lucrative agricultural economy. Lisa and her team have developed AgroMarketDay, a mobile application that enables farmers to access markets, market information, modern farming methods and tools in different districts in Uganda.Her passion for ICT involvement in the agricultural sector has enabled her to reach out to more youth involved in agriculture through the Young Farmers’ Coalition (Yofaco) where she heads the IT department of the coalition.
Nobert Jiga
Nobert is Currently Director at Safety and Business Centre Ltd; engaged in Safety Consultancy services and Safety training since 2005.Previously worked as Deputy Director Administration at Kampala Capital City Authority; Technical Advisor- Eskom Uganda Ltd, Procurement Manager-Eskom Uganda Ltd and many other positions in reputable organizations including; Uganda Telecom Limited and TOTAL Uganda Limited with a total of 23 years of professional service; most of it at senior management level. Has knowledge and experience in Enterprise Risk Management and in the development and maintenance of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality systems.
Norah Owaraga
Norah Owaraga is the Managing Director of CPAR Uganda, a not-for-profit development organisation that is building healthy communities in the greater Northern Uganda www.cparuganda.com. She is the proprietor of Alinga Farms, a social enterprise which she established to advantage poor active farmers in her home district of Pallisa in eastern Uganda (www.facebook.com/alingafarms.) She is a humanist blogger and a cultural anthropologist researching the association between the beliefs, attitudes and practices of her people, the Iteso of Uganda, and food insecurity. She is a Fellow of the African Leadership Initiative East Africa (ALI EA) and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (AGLN). she will be Exploring the link between culture, food security, human nutrition, and farming as a business.
