Theme: Out of Box / Kutunun Dışında

Technology might be summarized as an attitude regarding inevitability of the social transformation and moving forward for awareness. Theme of our 2016 TEDx event is “Out of the Box (thinking and existing out of bounds)”. What is the saddlebag loaded at our back filled with regarding the ability for awareness, when we have become people living for work and changing unconsciously to be able to exist? While we are being bombarded with so much of information, irresistible attractiveness of TED’s atmosphere of “Ideas Worth Spreading” has led Dokuz Eylul University to get into action for the beautiful Izmir, for our country, for our region, for the world when it is still beautiful by means of TED’s enthusiasts with no boundaries and for the humanity. Despite of the whole relativity, “the real comfort starts where our comfort area ends.” And the moment we begin to think like this is the moment when we fall out of the box. Maybe the moment when we start thinking within another box… Who knows? As TEDxDEU, we dived eagerly and deep into waters void of comfort of the ability to think alternatively and guess whom we have come across.

Çalışmak için yaşar hale gelmişken ve var olabilmek için bilinçsizce değişirken fark edebilmeye dair sırtımızdaki heybe nelerle dolu?
Binlerce bilginin bombardımanı altındayken TED’in “Paylaşmaya Değer Fikirler” ortamının dayanılmaz çekiciliği, Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi’ni güzel İzmir için, ülkemiz, bölgemiz hatta TED’in sınır tanımaz hayran kitlesi aracılığı ile hala güzelken dünya ve insanlık için harekete geçmeye yöneltti.
Tüm göreceliliğine rağmen “gerçek konfor alanımızın bittiği yerde başlıyor”. Bunu fark ettiğimiz an ise kutunun dışına düştüğümüz an oluyor. Belki de başka bir kutunun içine düştüğümüz an… Kim bilir…
Farklı düşünebilmenin konfordan yoksun sularına dair TEDxDEU olarak derin ve istekli bir dalış yaptık ve bir bilseniz kimlerle karşılaştık.

Alpar Sargın kimdir? 1969 yılında İstanbul'da dünyaya gelmiştir. Üniversite okumamış. 6 yaşındayken ailecek çadırla tüm Avrupa'yı dolaşmanın ve ailesinin de sevmesinden dolayı doğa ve doğa sporlarına hep ilgi duymuş. Aile hayatında toplamda 22 yıl süren sağlık sorunlarının, iş hayatının, birlikte yaşamayı birtürlü beceremeyen toplumumuzun ve şehrin baskısının üzerinde yarattığı tahribatı onarmak için dağlar, kanyonlar, denizler hep iyileşme alanları olmuş. Akut'un kuruluşunda ve gelişmesinde rol almış. 3 yabancı dil öğrenmiş. Atina'dan Venedik'e 2000 kilometrelik bir kano yolculuğu yapmış. Pekçok dost edinmiş.Bilerek, bilmeyerek ülkeler gezmiş. Evlenmemiş, çocuk sahibi olmamış lakin ihtiyacından fazlasını ihtiyacı olanlarla paylaşıp, hayatlarına katkı sağlamaya çabalamış birisi Alpar Sargın. Sonunda daha sürdürülebilir bir hayat için şehirden kaçmış ve kendi yaptığı çadır evde elektriğini de kendisi üreterek yaşamını sürdürüyor.

Neyzen Kaşif Demiröz 18 Nisan 1972 İzmir doğumludur.1993 yılında Ege Üniversitesi Devlet Türk Musikisi Konservatuarını kazanıp, Temel Bilimler Bölümünde öğretim görevlisi olan Demiröz 1996 yılında TRT İzmir Radyosunda sözleşmeli Ney sanatçısı oldu. 1998 yılında mezun olduktan 1 yıl sonra Ege Üniversitesi Devlet Türk Musikisi Temel Bilimler bölümünde öğretim görevlisi olarak göreve başladı.Yurtiçi ve yurtdışında pekçok konser veren sanatçı halen Ege Üniversitesi Devlet Türk Musikisi Temel Bilimler bölümündeki görevine ve akademik ney derslerine devam etmektedir.

Lütfi Öksüz

Prof. Dr. Lütfi Öksüz was born in 1968 in Isparta. After he studied Nuclear Power Engineering at the Hacettepe University he did his graduade at the Winconsin University-Madison in Nuclear Engineering and his PhD at the same university in Engineering Physics. He did his Post-Doc at the Oxford Research Unit of the Berkeley laboratory and Dublin City University. He worked as a researcher and executive at Intel, Lam, NASA, Airforce, DOE, NSF, DPT and TUBITAK projects. He is the founder of the Plazmatek Company. Currently, he is a faculty member of Suleyman Demirel University in the physics department.

Wheelchair Dance Project_Izmir Member 1972 doğumlu ve iktisat mezunudur. Devlet Demir Yollarında çalışmaktadir. Onalti Senedir Bornova Barışgücü Spor Kulübü tekerlekli sandalye basketbol takiminda oynamakta olan Mehmet Arik 2013 yılından bu tarafa WCDP grubunda sahneye cikmaktadir. Dansciliginin yaninda ayrıca tiyatro ile de ilgilenmektedir. WCDP Öz Geçmişi Wheelchair Dance Project 2013 yılından beri devam etmekte olan engelsiz dans projesidir. Ekipteki tüm dansçılar, katkıda bulunan müzisyenler ve eğitmenler tamamen gönüllülük bilinci ile projede yer almaktadırlar. İBB sosyal projeler merkezi çalışma alanı ve temsil tarihlerinde ulaşım hizmetini sağlamaktadır. WCDP bilinçli bir toplum anlayışına katkıda bulunmak amacıyla uygun koşulların sağlanmış olduğu her etkinlikte yer almaktan mutluluk duyarak çalışmalarına devam etmektedir.

Neşen chose to give a big twist to her career after 13 years of experience in the biggest banks of Turkiye, during which she specialized on product management, marketing and marketing communications. In 2012 Neşen started her own company as a consultant and also have been running own projects. Ever since that decision, her life has the dynamism back long missed since university years when every morning you wake up to a new goal or challenge but most importantly, an opportunity. In addition to her own projects, thanks to her education at Bogazici University Translation and Interpretation Studies and MBA degree from University of West Georgia, USA; she has been busy working on both local projects and companies worldwide for their marketing efforts as well as localization in Turkey. "At nights we look up to the sky and believe that our whole universe is made of shining matters (stars) and looking at these magnificient shiny things is also fun (at least for me) because it's so mysterious. When I found out that the real secret of the universe wasn't in the things in the light but rather the things hiding in the dark and that this dark matter-energy made up 94% of the universe and that we could only see the 4%, I thought that as a physicist I have to get into this mysterious world. And for this I went to Turkey's far east part (Kars) to start this magical CERN journey even though I was a person that had never been to the east of Ankara. Arş. Gör. Researcher / SİDAR DUMAN VE 360 DERECE ARAŞTIRMA GRUBU Grup üyelerinde varolan doğa ve tarih sevgisi , gündelik koşuşturmaların önüne geçmeye başladığında bunun için bir şeyler yapmanın zamanı geldi dediler ve ekibin ana hatları oluştu. Akademisyenlerden mühendise , caz piyanistinden şaire kadar uzanan geniş bir meslek grubundan şimdilik elli gönüllüden oluşan grup , araştırmaları yanı sıra canlandırma yöntemiyle deneysel arkeolojinin izinde yelken açıyorlar. İzmir-Urla da faaliyet gösteren grup antik dönem deniz araçları replikaları imal edip, yine antik rotalarda yolculuklar yapıyorlar. Uluburun II Reanimasyon , İzmir-Foça-Marsilya Tarihe yolculuk , İzmir Kayıkları bu projelerden bazıları.

Game Goat, Dreamtime Story Teller Sıla Akdeniz,5 Ocak 1989 yılında İzmir'de dünyaya gelmiştir.İçindeki sanat aşkını bir türlü bastıramayınca üniversite yıllarını Süleyman Demirel Üniversitesinin Güzel Sanatlar Fakültesinde geeçirmiştir. Oyuncu ve eğitmen olarak mesleğine devam etmiştir.Masal anlatıcılığı konusunda eğitim almakta ve Düş Zamanı Masalları anlatmaktadır. O,hem günümüzün Düş Zamanı Masalcısıdır ve 4 yaşındaki Asya Mavinin annesidir.

Medical Doctor / Prof. Dr. Türkan Saylan was born in Istanbul in 1935. Prof. Dr. Saylan concentrated her work on Leprosy from 1976 onwards and founded the Society for the Struggle Against Leprosy (SSAL) in the same year. She also initiated the establishment of the Foundation for the Struggle Against Leprosy (FSAL) in 1976. She was the president of both the SSAL and the FSAL. She is a founding member of the International Leprosy Union (ILU) and at present she is the vice-president of ILU. For about 30 years till 2006, she was a consultant to the World Health Organization (WHO) on Leprosy. In 1986 she received the International Gandhi Prize, presented to her in India. During 2003-2004, she was a member of the Human Rights Consultancy Committe.
