Meher Malik is proud to present the Banjara School of Dance, an intiative to bring together different dancers from different styles and cultures of dance. Banjara is not merely a dance company but an artistic shelter where different minds,bodies and souls will meet to create higher and greater levels of dance in this country.

Aditi Gupta

Aditi is a social entrepreneur and Co-founder of Menstrupedia, working towards spreading awareness about menstruation. As a Ford Foundation research Scholar she has conducted extensive research in understanding the scenario of menstrual unawareness in India and its impact on a girl’s life. Aditi along with her husband Tuhin Paul has designed effective educational tools for girls and schools using storytelling and sequential art for educating young girls about menstruation in a society where the subject is a major taboo. Menstrupedia’s website receives 200,000 visitors per month. The comic book designed by them is available in Hindi and English now and 15 schools across India and using the books to educate school girls about periods. The books have been shipping to Uruguy, US, Uk, Sweden, Philippines, Nepal, Pakistan and Nigeria.They are working on Nepali and Spanish translation of the book which would be ready to be printed and distributed locally in Nepal and South America.

Ananda Shankar Jayant

Dr Ananda Shankar Jayant, is celebrated as one of India’s leading classical dancers, choreographers and dance scholars. Ananda was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 2008.She underwent surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and Herceptin therapies for 2 years. Through it all she continued to dance, teach, choreograph , travel and perform on tour . She is in remission now, and continues to be under maintenance therapy and regular surveillance. Ananda has been decorated with two national awards : “Padma Shri” in 2007 and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Puraskar for Bharatanatyam in 2009. She has also been honoured by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu with the “Kalaimamani”, and with the “Kala Ratna” by the former Govt. of Andhra Pradesh A TED speaker in 2009, Ananda’s TED talk is now much viewed and highly ranked as one of 12 Incredible TED talks on cancer. In January 2015, the Huffington Post ranked Ananda’s TED talk as the 1st of 5 greatest TED talks by Indians.

Ariel Garten

Garten is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of InteraXon, a Canadian company specializing in software for Non-invasive Brain-computer interfaces. Garten is also a psychotherapist trained in Neuro-linguistic programming. Ariel Garten was born on September 24, 1979 in Toronto. She is a Canadian artist, scientist and intellectual. She was an avant garde clothing designer with a store called Flavour Hall (now closed) in Toronto, Canada. She is deemed to have made a “significant contribution to the field” for her work in integrating art and science. She is pursuing cutting edge art and performances in other media, including dance, music, percussion, and cutting-edge instruments (such as hydraulophone, quintephone, and other). She creates work that explores the intersection of art and neuroscience.

Ashwini Asokan

Ashwini along with her husband Anand is bringing the power of Artificial Intelligence to every mobile user. They have set up Mad Street Den in August 2013 with an initial capital of $50,000. How technology can be used by people is something that always fascinated Ashwini Asokan, Co-founder & CEO at Mad Street Den & Mad Street Labs.

Chetna Gala Sinha

An economist, farmer, and activist, Chetna Sinha works for social change in some of the poorest and most drought-stricken areas of rural India. She is the founder and the current president of the Mann Deshi Mahila Bank, a micro-enterprise development bank. Mann Deshi’s clients are women from low-income groups, averaging INR 40 (USD 1) per day. The Bank currently has seven branches, over 185,000 clients, and conducts 10,000 transactions on a daily basis.

Deepika Bharadwaj

Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj is a journalist, anchor and a documentary filmmaker. Her first documentary ‘Gramin Dak Sevak’ was Jeevika All Asia Livelihood Film Festival 2009, student film winner. Her second documentary ‘Youth Count’ was broadcast on India’s leading News channel NDTV 24×7. Her third project ‘Garima’ was a commissioned, short documentary film by USAID and Counterpart International. A software engineer-turned-journalist, she was one of the 10 media professionals selected from around the world for ‘Future Media Leaders Course’ conducted by Thomson Foundation, UK.

Leila Seth

Leila Seth was the first woman to top the Bar examinations in London in 1957. Thereafter she practiced in Patna, Calcutta (now Kolkata) and Delhi. She was the first woman judge of the Delhi High Court and the first woman to become chief justice of a state in India. She was appointed as a judge in 1978 and retired as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh in 1992. She is involved in pro bono work pertaining to health, human rights, women and children’s rights, education, environment and ethics.

Natalie Di Luccio

Natalie Di Luccio is a classically trained Soprano from Toronto, Canada. She has toured with the Grammy & Oscar Award Winning Composer, A.R.Rahman and has also performed for Coke Studio India on MTV. Her singing videos on YouTube have garnered millions of hits across the globe and brought her to India where she sings in many languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, Gujarati, Punjabi & Marathi. Natalie has done playback for Bollywood films like Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl, English Vinglish, Chennai Express & the Tamil film, “I”. She is also a constant in the jingle circuit lending her voice to many AD films. She has also recorded with Mauro Malavasi, the music producer behind world famous Italian singers Luciano Pavarotti and Andrea Bocelli.

Reemaben Nanavaty

Born on May 22, 1964 in Ahmedabad, Reema graduated in science from Gujarat University and was selected to IAS services of Government of India. Reema Nanavaty leads Self Employed Women’s Association’s (SEWA) economic and rural development activities reaching out to seventeen million women and their families across India. Reema is being recognized across India and in the neighbouring countries as a champion of making livelihoods of the poor women reach markets they deserve. As a manager, she developed the regional rural water supply scheme of Government of Gujarat and SEWA into an integrated water project, and made women central to water decisions. She stayed on with SEWA and expanded the project into an ongoing Women, Water and Work campaign of 1,00,000 women. In 2013, the Government of India honoured Reema Nanavati with the fourth highest civilian award, Padma Shri.

Upasana Makati

Upasana Makati is the founder, editor, publisher and owner of White Print - India's first lifestyle magazine for the visually impaired in Braille English. Launched in May, 2013, she started White Print to build a readership of enthusiastic individuals who would look beyond the realms of mere news as reading material. At a time where the visually impaired were relying heavily on talkback softwares and their Braille literacy was confined only to the spaces of their mind, White Print ushered in a new light.
