Theme: Outside The Box

We are told to "think outside the box" most of the time, but how exactly do we do that?

This conference would be a combination of live speakers, performance and TED talks that would enlighten the audience and spark deep conversations on how to tackle situations using unconventional and innovative ways. The aim is to encourage creativity and enterprise within the community.

TEDxUniversityofCapeCoast is the second of its kind being organized in the ancient capital of Ghana with the hope that it becomes a local forum for ideas that inspire people to change their lives, their future and ultimately their world.

'Giov'HONEY' (Charles Evans Nyamekye)

Spoken Word Artist

Giov'HONEY, a final year student of University of Cape Coast studying B.Sc. Psychology and hoping to become a Clinical Psychologist, believes in the prospects of the people of his generation salvaging the losses of their societies and world at large. He uses spoken word poetry, articles, audio messages and beautiful write-ups captioned ''INKspiration'' or ''INKspire Notes'' to stir the desire of his listeners to succeed, thrive and become all they are destined for. He is on a mission to give hope to a dying world; love to the abandoned; and faith to the fainthearted. Giov'HONEY is convinced that it takes only two people to make the world a beautiful haven-YOU AND ME!

Alfred Godwin Adjabeng

Executive Director, Reach Out To Future Leaders Movement

Alfred Godwin Adjabeng is a University of Cape Coast trained Environmental Scientist and CEO of Reach Out to Future Leaders Movement, a community-development-based organization that is responsible for ensuring that young people are educated, empowered and engaged for local development. School Farms Programs is their flagship program, a program that is empowering rural schools in Ghana to be food sufficient by creating community driven farms in order to grow what they eat. He is passionate about Social Entrepreneurship, Public Policy and Environmental Conservation and implores innovation, creativity, collaboration and social inclusion as sustainable tools to solving communities’ challenges. In June 2015, Alfred was awarded Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders.by President Obama and in 2014 he was among 23 young Africans awarded SETAfrica 2014 Fellowship by Makerere University Business School for their contributions in advancing Social Entrepreneurship in Africa.

Joyce Okyerewaa Danso

UN Youth Observer delegate

A social entrepreneur and a model UN expert with great interest in education, Joyce Okyerewaa Danso is well known for her exploits in debates, public speaking, model United Nations as well as her love for social change. Her current project, the Agenda project, won the Harvard Resolution Project social venture challenge at the Harvard Model United Nations Conference, 2015 .The Agenda project is widely recognized for its unique focus on the holistic approach to education for orphans and student repeated for poor academic performance. She is passionate about issues on governance and policy implementation and has a great interest in diplomacy; In 2012, she was named as part of the top five public speakers in Africa (PAUDC); and also won the overall best delegate award of the maiden tertiary model United Nations conference organized by Life-Link Ghana. Joyce has also served as the Ghana UN youth observer delegate at the 2015 United Nations General Assembly.

Okechukwu Ofili

Author, Blogger, Social entrepreneur

Okechukwu Ofili wasn’t supposed to become an artist or author and definitely not an entrepreneur. He was not even supposed to graduate Secondary School. Early on in his Educational career, Okechukwu Ofili struggled academically especially with English. And many people and teachers did not give him a chance to succeed. But he proved them wrong. Today, Okechukwu Ofili is a blogger known for his witty illustrations, an author of 4 books including “How Intelligence Kills,” is the founder of the fastest growing mobile book reading app in Africa in okadabooks.com all while holding down a full time job as a Design/Project Engineer at a fortune 500 company. Ofili utilizes his educational turn around to critically analyze the way we judge/measure intelligence in children. He believes that each child has their own unique way of learning that many parents and teachers fail to recognize. It is this belief that pushes him to speak to students at any opportunity about their unique abilities.

Winnifred Selby

Co-founder of Ghana Bamboo Bikes Initiative

Winnifred is a 20 year old multi-talented young lady who has been dedicating her life to the economic empowerment of young people in her community. When she was 15 years old, Winnifred co-founded the award winning Ghana Bamboo Bikes Initiative. She is the President of the EPF Educational Empowerment Initiative; her charitable project dedicated to promote education in Ghana. Her varied abilities are directed toward a single purpose;the ever-widening implementation of her mission to keep school children especially young girls from deprived communities in Ghana to school. She has 5 international laurels to her credit; 2016 New African Woman in Science,Technology & Innovation Award winner, 2015 World of Children Honoree, 2014 Set Africa Fellow, Global Shaper of the World Economic Forum, Anzisha Fellow 2014. Winnifred has shared platform with notable international figures such as the UN Secretary General Ban Kin Moon who rode on her bamboo bike and generated publicity worldwide.

Witsfield Kwablah

Violinist & Pianist

Witsfield is a professional violinist and pianist who recently graduated from the University of Cape Coast. He is the director of the popular Witsharmonic Choir, Ghana and is known for his thrilling performances.
