Alicia Partnoy is a survivor from the secret detention camps where about 30,000 people ‘disappeared’ in Argentina. She came to the US as a refugee, after three years as a political prisoner. A human rights activists and poet, she is best known for The Little School. Tales of Disappearance and Survival. She presides over Proyecto VOS-Voices of Survivors, an organization that brings survivors of state sponsored or tolerated violence to lecture at U.S. universities. She currently teaches at Loyola Marymount University.

Meditation
Jeffrey Zlotnik, Founder and CEO of The Meditation Initiative has led
meditation for free with more than 30,000 people since 2003. He
began meditating in 1996, while working with Abused Teens and
noticed tremendous change in their attitude after meditation. He
has led free meditation for Homeless Teens, K-12 Public Schools,
Juvenile Detention Facilities, Federal and State Prisons, Diabetes
Patients, Thiel Foundation, Wikimedia, KPBS, HIV Patients, Seniors
Centers, United States Military, Wounded Warriors, UCSD, Susan G.
Komen, Braille Institute, Jewish Family Services, Catholic Charities,
Christian Youth Groups and Group Homes for Victims of Domestic
Violence and Human Trafficking. He has a consulting background
working with SAP, Siebel, Oracle and RDR, and coached youth
baseball for 15 years. He views meditation as a daily practice of
mindfulness laying the foundation for a happier and healthier life.

from Brisbane, Australia and based in San Diego since 2006, he

the matter in the universe. He has spoken to audiences about this
at three TEDx events. As one of his songs suggests, “Stardust and
