In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Cian Han Dai

Student

Cian Han Dai is a freshman in National Taipei University of Education. From her childhood, she started to participate in a great number of speech contests. She was not allowed to speak in her own voices. All the contents of each script needed to be adjusted strictly by her mentor. The exaggerated body movement and sound were performed. She used to be proud of being a speaker in the contest. However, she found that she didn’t have her own “idea” throughout the whole process. As a result, she decided to speak up on the stage with her “real” voice and tell us the unreasonable facts in the contest.

Gang Hao Fan

Gang Hao Fan is one of the founders of Sistersaying, a platform which promotes the right for all the genders. He told the audiences about the relationship between the social class and the gender. Compared to male, female has a lower status in our society. However, most women change their life by the outstanding performance in the workplace. Unfortunately, some women who are from the lower social class still struggle a lot in their misery life. He hopes, someday, everyone could care more about the gender issues and people could be treated fairly.

Jhe Ru Chen

Contractual teacher

Jhe Ru Chen is a contractual teacher in the university. The problem of low birth rate has spread all over the world, and Taiwan is no exception. Some university tries to attract more students with lower school fee. However, he found that more and more students go to university just because they want to get a certification of bachelor degree. Most of his students do not concentrate on their academic performance. As a result, he does his best to inspire students to find out what they really want to do in their future. “The relationship of education starts when a teacher starts to communicate with his or her students” he said.

Ruei Jhen Fan

art therapist

Ruei Jhen Fan is an art therapist. She once helped her client who used to suffer from sexual abuse express her pain with art. She believes that life cannot go without art. “Art is a wonderful masterpiece that will make your life perfect and relieve your pressure” she said.

Sheng Wang

Sheng Wang is a college student, and also a pornographic novelist. People in Taiwan easily despise the occupation about sex. To Sheng Wang, he does not think he is doing wrong. Instead, he thinks that people need this type of occupation to help people in need. Sex is not a shame but normal and healthy.

Shin Hang Lin

dietitian

Shin Hang Lin is a dietitian. He found that few people in Taiwan have the correct concept of qualified food. What is worse, social media does not help their audiences to get the right information. There are different risks for food. For example, it is said that salt inside food is not healthy for human. However, it should be more correct to say that too much salt in not healthy. What is the standard of all the qualified food? Actually, there is no answer because “qualified” is defined by science. “The only safe way to keep healthy is eating properly” he said.

Shin Min Hong

Student

Shin Min Hong is a student from Taiwan University. He used to be in the volunteer club which people help Autistic children learn to communicate with others. He saw a lot of Autistic kids do not know how to convey their own ideas and people misunderstand them a lot. With warmer and more tolerate heart, people are supposed to be more patient with Autistic children.

Yi Nong Jheng

Yi Nong Jheng is a popular singer in Taiwan. She got divorced few years ago and decided to tell everyone that she is actually a lesbian but she and her ex-husband will always be the soulmate of each other. However, pressure remarks from people and social media bothered her a lot. She thinks few people know what love really is. People’s relationship is comprised of family love, romantic love, friendship love and other love which cannot be defined. People tend to classify and define every relationship. However, love cannot be defined. For example, a couple could have the family love, friendship, soulmate love at the same time. Love is the air in our life, so we cannot deny it just because we haven’t given it a definition.

Yun Chuan Song

Student

Yun Chuan Song is a freshman in National Taipei University of Education. He is also an activist in the social movement. He once launched the campaign which aimed to diminish the rule of dress code and hair ban. In order to convey the idea that students have the right to break down the outdated rule in the school, he keeps joining a lot of movements to inspire much more people to protect their rights.
