In the first edition of TEDx Chandigarh, we will feature creative thinkers, thought leaders, artists, scientists, innovators, changemakers and the extraordinary individuals who will enlighten, unite and provoke you. The speakers will be joining us from India as well as abroad to share their unique ideas - ideas which will spark deep discussions and motivate you to achieve your potential.

Dreams have the power to move the human race forward. However, the manifestation of dreams requires more than just dreaming. Our theme 'Dream | Ideate | Create' will explore the process of creative creation and achievement.

Abhinav Bindra

Abhinav Bindra created history in Beijing by winning the first ever individual gold medal for India at the Olympic Games. He is the only Indian Shooter in the World to hold both the world Championship title in and Olympic gold medal in simultaneously. He has Represented India in World Cups, Commonwealth Games and all American Shooting Championships. He has competed in Olympics, Asian Games, European Circuit Championships, and at the age of he represented India at the Sydney Olympics, becoming the youngest shooter in the world to compete in the Olympics. An eight times National Champion, he is a role model and a benchmark for aspiring marksmen. He is also committed to supporting talented youngsters pursue their sporting ambitions. he aims to contribute towards Transforming the sporting landscape in India to make it more athlete-friendly for sportspersons from varied disciplines.

Amarpali Singh

Amarpali Singh is a Spoken Word Poet, Storyteller and an inspirational blogger who is also a relentless stargazer and hopelessly hopeful human. She is working closely with Kavitactic, a city based poetry club, to establish slam poetry culture in Chandigarh by conducting workshops and organizing open mic events. She is often performing poetry in order to spread hope, telling stories that matter and questioning things that need probing. Having struggled with her mother's cancer in early teenage, Amy discovered a compassion within her heart. She had to let go of her mom eventually but she never lost the cause. She is actively involved in fundraisers and awareness campaigns about Cancer. She has also been a survivor of an exceedingly abusive relationship and braved PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) which has made her an activist of mental health, special kids and oppressed humans. However, her toughest battle has been carving her way out of a nearly fatal and traumatic brain injury.

Anshul Khadwalia

Anshul Khadwalia is a 26 year young leader taking INDOFARM to greater heights of success. Indo Farm is the one and only name known as leading Farm Equipments Manufacturer in India and all across the world. Currently leading as Chief Operating Officer of the organization, Anshul is responsible for Sales & Marketing of the Farming Division. The organization was witnessed tremendous growth under his leadership. An Alumni of the prestigious Aston University (U.K), Anshul joined his family business and dedicated his efforts towards Farm Mechanization & bringing the best of products & services to the rural masses of the country. Anshul has a dream and is committed to bring a positive change for the betterment of the Indian agriculture ecosystem.

Arun Sundar

Arun is the founder of the Social Capital Institute (www.thesocialcapitalinstitute.org), a not-for-profit movement built with the mission of evangelizing the concept of ‘Social Capital’ and ‘KarmaSocial Capital’. Arun Sundar is one of the eminent thinkers and opinion leaders in the technology space in Asia Pacific. Arun has built, led and advised technology businesses across the globe. He has been exposed to various businesses, business cultures and geographies around the world in the past few years in various capacities including Senior Leadership Roles in established multi-billion dollar Corporate houses, building technology companies from scratch, board memberships in various ventures and running trade forums and think tank groups across the world. His passion and related research is in understanding the disruptive technology eco-systems around the world and cross-pollinate learning b/w the East and West. Alongside various technology endeavors, Arun is one of the key management team members who established the category of ‘Relationship Analytics’ globally as part of the venture ‘TrustSphere’ where he is their Chief Strategy Officer.

Avantika Daing

Avantika Daing is the Chief Revenue Officer at Jopwell, a platform that creates professional experiences and opportunities to build a diverse workforce. With 20+ years of management experience, Avantika brings her expertise as an executive leader across marketing, growth strategy, product development and operations for both startups and Fortune 500 companies. Prior to joining Jopwell, Avantika was the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Growth and Operations at Zomato, a global search and discovery restaurant platform. Under her leadership, she helped Zomato scale to be the largest food discovery platform in the United States, valued at over a billion dollars. Avantika's 20+ years of management experience include a range of entrepreneurial ventures. She was part of the launch team for the biotech startup Eyetech Inc, which introduced the first drug to treat blindness caused by aging and diabetes. The company successfully IPOed on NASDAQ with a market capitalization of $730 million. She also founded SquareKey, a venture-backed curated online marketplace that provided the Indian consumer access to international premium products. SquareKey, driven by content, launched with partnerships from major fashion houses including BCBG, Nicole Miller, and Nanette Lapore. Avantika has served as a senior leader at Bristol Myers Squibb, Procter & Gamble and Rubberrmaid, where she specialized in brand development and growth. She earned her EMBA from the Kellogg School of Management and is a board member at TiE, New York. She lives in New York City with her two children and entrepreneur husband, who straddles between New York and Mumbai.

PARAS LOOMBA

Paras is the founder of Global Himalayan Expedition (GHE) and has lead several leadership expeditions to Ladakh to provide clean energy and education access to remote off-grid communities. Paras is inspired by cutting edge technologies and applies it to drive sustainable businesses. For the past five years, Paras and his team have been instrumental in electrifying 25 remote off-grid Himalayan villages and setting up 105 DC Solar microgrids, all 12000ft above sea level, located at a trek of 3-4 days from nearest motorable road. An engineer by profession, Paras merges technology and passion with an approach to create social technological innovations that are efficient and self- sustainable. Paras was also a team member of the 2012 International Antarctica Expedition led by Robert Swan, OBE, the first person to walk to both the poles. GHE’s work has been highlighted by IEEE Worldwide and featured by National Geographic as one of the "Breakthrough technologies" in the present world.

Priya Prakash

Priya Prakash is a healthcare entrepreneur and founder of HealthSetGo; India's pioneering health organization to empower students and schools with tools that lead to healthy societies, healthy governments and a healthier planet.HealthSetGo is on a mission to establish India's largest network of healthy schools. Priya recognizes the health epidemic facing us all. Having struggled with obesity, self esteem issues and bullying all throughout her childhood, it all changed after she set her mind to change herself.Priya has the international fitness certificate, Crossfit Level One and is passionate about Olympic Lifting and an avid blogger on nutrition and health. She wants to promote the idea of healthy, strong and fit women in India and be a role model for girls who struggle with their health and weight issues. She is a Global Shaper of The World Economic Forum, and a Fellow Of The World Forum For a Ethics in Business wherein she undertakes many health projects for the underprivileged.

Ravi Singh

Ravi Singh is the Founder of Khalsa Aid, an international Humanitarian aid agency. Khalsa Aid is based on the Sikh principles of " Sarbat Da Bhalla" (Well being of all) and "Recognise The Whole Human Race As One." He has led relief operations across the globe since 1999, and firmly believes that the people at the "top" must work with the field operatives to fully understand the difficulties in delivering aid in challenging areas of the globe.

Rubina Singh

Rubina is a true Punjabi at heart. Her unique sense(less) of humor has been appreciated globally in Chandigarh and surrounding areas. Apart from trying to be funny, Rubina is a human rights activist who believes in the power of sharing stories. From written to verbal, from facilitation to theatre, from puns to puppetry – she continues to explore multiple mediums to talk about the stories that matter.

Sameer Guglani

Sameer was born in Chandigarh and spent his formative years in the Chandigarh-Punjab region. In 2008, at the beginning of startup ecosystem in India, Sameer started “The Morpheus”, India’s first startup accelerator. Morpheus supported 82 companies officially over 6 years & created the Morpheus Gang - an amazing community of 300+ entrepreneurs In 2012, Sameer discovered Integral Yoga, the path to understanding and realizing oneself and the truth of world existence. In 2014, The Morpheus accelerator was shut down for Sameer to devote all his time to self-growth & engagement in Integral Work out of a new emerging understanding. In 2015, Sameer, with some friends, started the “Oneness Community” - a platform to enable connections, sharing & collaboration between individuals who are learning and living from an ever deeper understanding. Currently this community has 215+ members who are creating transformative models to live & work in their personal & collective contexts.

Sandra Stinson Olansky

Sandra grew up in the sand dunes of Indiana and on the shore of Lake Michigan, exploring woods and swamps, and collecting insects and frogs. Her summers were enjoyed on her uncles' farms in Illinois. She was happiest outdoors in nature. Sandra majored in Painting at the University of Illinois , then went to graduate school in Boston majoring in Art Education. She taught art for 35 years, teaching all ages from grade 1 through college. Sandra traveled three years before getting married and raising two daughters and one son. There are now eight grandchildren. Once her children were in college, she started traveling again, visiting ten countries in Africa, New Guinea, and Asia. Her last ten trips have been to India where she focused on the arts: doing her own photography, writing, drawing, and volunteering teaching English and art. She considers herself an activist for global peace through acceptance , involvement and understanding people of all ethnic backgrounds. When Sandra is not traveling she spends her time at home with family and friends, volunteering at a local Food Bank., folk dancing and making art. Sehajdeep Singh Kohli

Sehajdeep Singh Kohli is a nine year old prodigy. He made his first Asian record at the age of 3 years where he recognized the flags of 105 countries in just 52 seconds. He also made a record by recognising the Indian states and their capitals along with the neighbouring countries on the outline of the map in just 33 seconds. The list of accomplishments do not end here. He was ranked first in an International Informatics Olympiad. He has also been internationally recognized by the Worldwide Brain Club for his exceptional memory skills.

SSumier Pasricha

Ssumier is an actor, comedian, writer, photographer and dancer. Ssumier went to Australia for higher studies. After coming back, he refused the offer to join his family business and pursued his childhood dream of becoming an actor. How many of us leave our comfort zone and dare to chase our dreams? Ssumier exactly did that. Ssumier now lives in Mumbai and is a household name(face). He has gained popularity for creating viral videos based on a fictional character 'Pammi Aunty'-- impersonation of a typical middle-class Delhi Punjabi woman who loves to gossip, crib and complain about many things to her friends over the phone.
