To commemorate the start of our new season for TEDxOmaha Salons, we will be exploring how people communicate ideas from the start of life. Babies are the greatest language learners in the world. How do babies transition from being “citizens of the world,” learning human language one piece at a time, to understanding words and phrases in the language of their upbringing? Babies show us how culture is essentially intertwined with the learning of language, and how ideas are built from the very basic sounds - “p-” or “t-,” “ba” or “da” - into phrases and words that convey meaning. This is how ideas are born.
Did we mention that we will be talking about babies? Cuteness will abound.
