TEDx Rexburg 2016 Ideas to Action is the rendezvous of revolutionary ideas that can change our world.
Eight selected speakers will have 18 minutes to share their ideas and make them come to life. One hundred selected speakers will have the chance to be there, many others more will participate online. Be part of this unique experience.

Aaron Peterson

President/Founder Achieve Today
Aaron Peterson was born and raised in Rexburg Idaho. He has lived many places over the years, but has been living in Rexburg for the last 7 years and plans to stay. Aaron graduated with an Associate’s degree from Ricks College and a BA in Art in International Business from the College of Idaho. Aaron has always been an entrepreneur at heart. He and his partners started a successful sales and marketing company in the early 2000s. In 2004 they were named entrepreneurs of the year in Utah for Marketing Communication. In 2009 Aaron was recognized by Utah Business magazine as at top 40 under 40 business owners. In 2014 Aaron started a personal development/self-improvement company called Achieve Today in Provo Utah. Achieve Today was recently named the 3rd best company to work for in Utah by the Deseret News based off of Glass Door Rankings. This was their 3rd year in a row. Aaron has been married to Darla Peterson for 17 years and has 5 adorable children (3 sons and 2 daughters.)

Amy A McDougal, Pharm.D

Doctor of Pharmacy
Amy McDougal lives in Rexburg, Idaho with her husband and six fun children. She enjoys waterskiing (the two days of the year it’s warm enough), skiing, road biking, cross-country skiing, snow-showing, and reading the Hutzler 571 Banana slicer reviews on Amazon.com. She also gets really excited about reading medical studies. After graduating with her Doctor of Pharmacy, she worked in many aspects of pharmacy, including hospital, retail, home i.v., and compounding. She has 20+ years of Pharmacy experience. She loves to continue her education and has studied with Dr. Ben Lynch of MTHFR.net and has studied the work of Dr. Amy Yasko, both pioneers in the treatment of methylation to optimize health.

Dr. Dane Dickson

Oncologist, Founder and CEO of MED-C
Dr. Dane Dickson, a native of Salt Lake City, Utah, graduated from the University of Utah in 1992 with a BA in chemistry and minor in Mandarin Chinese. He graduated with honors from the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1996. He went on to complete an internal medicine residency at Washington University in St. Louis in 1999 and then specialized at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City. Dr. Dickson started a solo practice, Teton Oncology, in Rexburg, Idaho, in 2001. The practice served more than 8,000 square miles of Idaho and Wyoming. His practice was acquired by a local hospital in 2010. Dr. Dickson then spearheaded the development of the Teton Cancer Institute and served as its Medical Director until 2014. He started the Summarius Corp., a medical informatics company specializing in clinical trial review and development of Office of Inspector General-compliant materials for education and training, in 2001.

Dr. Jacob Curtis

Physician (Family Medicine & Obstetrics)
Dr. Jacob K. Curtis joined Grand Peaks Medical in June of 2016. For the last eight years Dr. Curtis has provided family medicine, emergency medicine, and obstetrics in Cache Valley. Originally from Teton Valley, he and his wife Jamie are excited to be back in Rexburg where they first met nearly 20 years ago. He comes highly trained and experienced and is excited to contribute to the excellent care already being provided in the community. He provides an extensive variety of primary care procedures with a focus and advanced training in Obstetrics. He has delivered over 1,000 babies thus far in his career. Professionally he has also been active. He has served on the board of the Idaho Academy of Family Physicians and currently serves as the chair of the procedural medicine committee of the ACOFP. Curtis provides lectures statewide and nationally, and has been published in medical journals and textbooks.

Eric Moosman

Business Appreciation Mentor/Consultant
Eric Moosman is creator of appreciationteam.com and White Ops Consulting. He, his wife Marya, and their five children find their hearth and hearts hugging the Idaho-side foothills of the Teton mountain range. They pass recreational time by wandering on dirt trails, paddling recreational kayaks, or shoveling white-crystalized water. With Dr. Seuss being his favorite author, Eric has the complete collection of his written and illustrated books. Regularly, Eric teams up with his alter-ego Marco Sam Sneelock to educate children in the region. Being raised in Preston, Idaho was “dynamite.” Eric then studied exercise physiology at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and served an LDS mission to South Africa. For eight years he had the opportunity to be a leader, mentor, and job coach for those with physical or mental disabilities while working within the LDS church welfare program in Utah and Southeast Idaho.

Logan McKee

International Business Entrepreneur and Traveler
Logan McKee was born near Staffordshire, England. While growing up, he has lived in Ghana – West Africa, Germany, Switzerland, South Africa, and the United States. He is a senior at Brigham Young University – Idaho, and will earn his undergraduate degree in Business Management – Marketing. He has a particular interest in the technology industry, and works for Sales Rabbit as an Account Manager. He has past experience at Google, McGraw-Hill, and working at his university as an Assistant Project Manager. He married his incredible wife, Veronica, in April of 2016. Logan has a deep love for the many different cultures of the world and has explored 30 countries thus far. He plans to one day return and live in Africa, helping businesses grow. In his spare time he enjoys playing basketball, traveling, and networking.

Scott Shirley

School Administrator, Musician
Scott Shirley has served as a teacher, administrator, or principal in the Madison School District in Rexburg, Idaho, since August of 1987. He graduated from BYU with a B.S. in Education, and holds a Master’s and Education Specialist degree from Idaho State University. He has been married to his wife, Jan Shirley, for forty-two years, and has five children and eighteen grandchildren. He began studying music in 1958 and has continued to playing many different musical instruments to this day. He has participated in various musical groups for the past fifty years. He has used his musical talent throughout his career as a teacher and educator. He is fluent in Spanish and holds the rank of Sho Dan, or First Degree Black Belt, in Shito-Ryu Karate.

Tami Hymas

Cosmetologist, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, Radio Show , Columnist, Author , Educator
Tami believes in beauty. She believes in being beautiful, creating beautiful relationships, making things beautiful and living a beautiful life. Tami has been in the beauty business for 20 years. But she has been in the people business all her life. In 2009, she opened Tami’s Salon. Her heartfelt enthusiasm and love of people attracted clients quickly. She became a community staple, hosting fundraisers, participating in community events, and helping with performing arts productions. Soon, she had a column, Tami’s Tips the truth about beauty, in the local paper. This blossomed into a radio Talk show Tami’s tips Truth about beauty and a regular TV spot Local NBC morning show. Most recent is Tami’s Tips of EastIdahoNews.com online column ran until this spring of 2016 when a ski accident put her work into perspective. Where she choose to take a break from radio, paper and online columns to finish her book.
