Amanda Queen
Manager, Customer Service
Amanda Queen is responsible for managing and facilitating operation efficiency for the back office team of Conference and Cont-Ed registrations, and the fulfillment of K-12 Outreach and Merchandise. Amanda ensures that the registrations, fulfillment, and product sales team are following procedures and assisting in complying with standards set forth. She also works to ensure her team comes together to achieve established benchmarks. Amanda serves as a staff coach and seeks to inspire and motivate the team. Amanda is going on 19 years of service with ASCE.
Carol Vargas
Director, Industry Relations
Carol A. Vargas, CAE, IOM has been responsible for managing ASCE’s Partners Program since joining the staff as Director of the Partners Program in 2006. Since 2010, she has been responsible for managing the Partners Program and the Industry Leader Council (ILC). Carol is also responsible for the Corporate Sponsor program and is the staff lead for the ASCE Grand Challenge. Prior to joining the staff at ASCE, Carol served as Director of Corporate Membership for the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) from 1997-2006 where she was responsible for managing corporate outreach, membership, special events, executive tours and the Aerospace Markets-The Decade Ahead conference. Carol holds a M.F.A. in Painting with a minor in Art Criticism, a M.S. in Management, a Post Master Certificate in Training and Development, and a B.A. in Visual Arts. Carol is a local artist whose work resides in private collections throughout the US. Carol resides in Warrenton, VA with her family.
Frank Kim
Program Manager, Utility Engineering & Surveying Institute (UESI)
Frank is the program manager of ASCE’s 9th Institute, UESI and has been with ASCE since September 2005, with +15 years in the non-profit/association field overall. Frank was hired by ASCE to cultivate ASCE’s professional certification pilot program, the American Academy of Water Resources Engineers (AAWRE). Frank also served as the staff contact for ASCE Committee on Technical Advancement (CTA) Cold Regions Engineering Division from 2009 to 2015.
Frank was born in Seoul, South Korea and lived in Korea until the age of 8, when his family moved to the States. He grew up in northern Virginia attending Falls Church high school and attended George Mason University, earning his B.A. in Study of Communications. He enjoys the study of culture, society, music, sports, books, photography, food and travel. He and his wife enjoy teaching children ages 5-11 on the weekends.
Holly Koppel
Managing Editor, Journals
Holly Koppel has worked with ASCE's Publications Division for almost 13 years. Holly is an active member of ASCE's Toastmasters Club, "Wizards of Ahs" where she has served in almost every officer role and as a Contest Chair. Holly won first place in the club's International Speech Contest for her speech entitled, “Everything I’ve Learned, I Learned from My Three-Year-Old.” Holly lead's the ASCE Food Drive benefiting our Reston neighbors and served as a speaker coach for the inaugural TEDxASCE in 2015.
Josh Peterson
Administrator, Corporate Accounts
Josh Peterson works as an Administrator of Corporate Accounts in the Industry Relations Department. He started his career at ASCE as a Customer Services Representative in March 2013 and was promoted the following year to Customer Service Associate. Josh also played on ASCE’s softball team, “Pitchbusters”. Josh serves as a Worship/Music Director at the Community Bible Church of Fair Lakes and enjoys songwriting, music composition and production.
