Theme: TIME DON REACH

TEDx Ajegunle Women is the first TEDx Women Conference to hold in Nigeria. Ajegunle, the location of the event is one of Nigeria’s most popular low income communities in Lagos. The choice of this location is a deliberate attempt at drawing attention to issues concerning women and children in these communities and to celebrate them.
Considering that the vent will be held in a low- income communities and targeted at women who are mostly unschooled, the official language for the event will be Nigerian pidgin/broken English, a 'kind' of informal English spoken as a lingua franca across Nigeria.

Gbenga Sesan

ICT advocate for low-income communities

‘Gbenga Sesan (born Oluwagbenga Olabisi Sesan on July 27, 1977) is the Executive Director of Paradigm Initiative Nigeria (PIN). He originally trained as an Electronic and Electrical Engineer at Obafemi Awolowo Universit and is a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur of the Year, former member of the United Nations Committee of eLeaders on Youth and ICT, CyberStewards Fellow,Crans Montana Forum Fellow, Archbishop Desmond Tutu Leadership Fellow , Ashoka Fellow and Our Common Future and Cordes Fellow. Gbenga served as a member of the Presidential committees on Harmonization of Information Technology, Telecommunications and Broadcasting Sectors and Roadmap for the Achievement of Accelerated Universal Broadband Infrastructure and Services Provision. He was listed by CNN as one of the Top 10 African Tech Voices on Twitter and by Ventures Africa as one of 40 African Legends Under 40.

Oluwatobiloba Ajayi

Disability Rights Advocate

Despite being born and living with cerebral Palsy, has risen above her limitations to continue to chase her dreams. Tobiloba is a three time published author who believes so much in the power of words- written or spoken, to change the world. She studied law and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2008. She also has a Masters degree in International Law from the University Of Hertsfordshire in the United Kingdom. She has spent her career working with various NGO's in Nigeria and beyond improving the lives of others and is particularly interested in helping people living with disabilities rise above their limitations to live excellent lives. The reason for this is personal.

Tolulope Sangosanya

Child Education Advocate

Tolu Sangosanya studied Mass Communication at the Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. Shes the founder of LOTS Charity home and won the Future Award for Best Use of Advocacy on her philanthropic work with the children living on lots of debris in Dustbin Estate, a shack settlement in the Awodi-Ora area of Ajegunle, a popular Lagos ghetto-suburb.

Vweta Chadwick

Womens Rights Advocate

Vweta Chadwick is a human rights champion with over 10 years’ experience in working to advance the rights of women and girls. She is the programs director of Project ASHA, an NGO advancing the rights of women and girls in underserved communities across Africa. She, equally, doubles as the secretary of Carrington Youth Fellowship Alumni Network. Vweta believes and demonstrates, through her work that empowering women and girls is key to bringing positive change and sustainable development to communities. In her current role at Project ASHA, she designs and leads programs that makes her abiding determination a reality vis-à-vis empowering women and girls with education; digital literacy; entrepreneurship and, mentorship.
