Theme: What Now?

TEDxYouth@BrookhouseSchool is an independently organised TED event that will be held at the Burudani Theatre on Saturday 19th November 2016 from 10.00am to 4.00pm. The event brings together an audience of secondary school students and adults for half a day of inspiring talks and conversation. The speakers and performers will be a combination of students and adults who will present their world-changing ideas within a six minute time frame. The theme of this year's event is: “What Now?”

Ann & Tracy

Tracy Mbugua is 17 years old and wishes to study Medical Law in the UK. Anne Arum is 16 years old. They are both currently students at Brookhouse School.

Ayana & Edward

Ayana is currently in her A-level final year at Brookhouse School. Edward is 19 years old and is currently studying BTEC Music at Brookhouse School.

Ayana & Eugene

Ayana imagines living in a world where music is a lot more than just an enjoyable past time. Eugene Kanyugo is a BTEC Music student at Brookhouse School. He plays the piano, acoustic and bass guitar, saxophone and drums.

Daksh & Arech

Darkshia and Bol are both 13 years old and are currently in Year 9 at Brookhouse School. Their hobbies include video games and they describe themselves as “Avid Fans Of Learning” who’s favorite subject is Maths.

Penina & Nicole

Nicole Sang is 13 years old and Penina Mbugua is 14 years old. They are both in Year 9 at Brookhouse school.

Alexa Ojijo

Alexa is currently 16 years old and in Year 12 at Brookhouse School.

Breanna Koome

Breanna is 14 years old and is currently in Year 10 at Brookhouse. Her hohbies include reading writing songs and "just music in general."

Claude Ouma

Claude Ouma is 18 years old and is currently in his final year at Brookhouse School.

Edward Waweru

Edward is 19 years old and is currently studying BTEC Music at Brookhouse School. Edward has always had a passion for music. He hopes to study Music Performance and Production at Berkley in New York.

Eva Donde

Eva is 15 years old and is currently in Year 11 at Brookhouse School. Some of her hobbies include singing and reading.

Hakeem Allison

Hakeem is 18 years old and is currently doing his A-level studies at Oshwal Academy Nairobi Senior High.

Harsthitha Canchi

Harshitha is 17 years old and currently completing her A-level at Oshwal Academy Senior High.

Janblu Poggio

Janblu is 14 years old student in Year 10 at Brookhouse. His passion for writing is unlike any seen before. He is an avid reader and never reads a book without finishing it.

John Wamburu

John M. Wamburu is a software engineer at IBM Research, Africa, working in the Cognitive Healthcare Group.

Kena Kamau

Kena Kamau, is a 17 year old student at Rusinga School Nairobi. She is deeply passionate about the future and history of her country, Kenya.

Kiinga Kioi

Kiinga Kioi is 16 years old and is currently doing his AS level studies at Oshwal Academy, Nairobi.

Malavika Subramanian

Malavika is 17 years old and is a student in Year 12 at Brookhouse School.

Michelle Muturi

Michelle is 16 years old and is currently doing her AS-level studies at Brookhouse School.

Minahil Qureshi

Minahil is an inquisitive 15 year old who is passionate about public speaking. She is currently in Year 11 at Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi.

Nigel is 18 year old photographer and a senior student at Brookhouse.

Roberto is 13 years old and is currently in Year 9 at Brookhouse. His hobbies include writing novels, reading, watching tv and creating things.

Stephen Chege

Stephen Chege better known as ‘Steven Urban’ as his brand name. He is a creative entrepreneur with a hand in music, fashion, technology, humanitarian work, tea & coffee.

Tamanda Kadewere

Tamanda is currently a student at Brookhouse School. Her hobbies are singing, dancing and painting.

Thomas Wakiaga

Thomas is 18 years old and is in his final year at Brookhouse School. Some of his hobbies include basketball and rugby.

Trevor Ntutu

Trevor Ntutu is 17 years old. He is currently a student in Year 12 at Brookhouse School.

Yashvi Parmar

Yashvi is 17 years old and is currently in Year 12 at Brookhouse School.

Zanir Kurji

Zanir is a Diploma 1 student at Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi. He is 17 years old and feels that he is yet to reach his full potential academically. This may be as a result of him not perceiving himself as being clever due to the prescribed definition of cleverness: usually academic prowess.
