Akash Patel

Akash Patel is the Founder & President of the World Experiences Foundation, a nonprofit organization that has impacted thousands of educators and students in Oklahoma and abroad. Patel is a graduate research assistant at the University of Central Oklahoma, an international motivational speaker, diversity coach and educator. In December 2015, Patel’s nonprofit received the 2015 Oklahoma Human Rights Award in the chamber of the Oklahoma House of Representatives for promoting global citizenship in Oklahoma communities and for fighting racism and bigotry with anti-bias global education. Patel has over 8 years of international public speaking & education consulting/training experience. Patel speaks six languages & has traveled to over 30 countries. In his free time, Patel likes to read, play golf or volunteer.

Antonio Ross

Antonio Ross is a recent graduate from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). He is currently a motivational speaker, social media manager and business owner. Antonio completed his Master of Science in Wellness Management and his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at UCO. During his time at UCO, he played on the 30-4 season, record-holding Men’s Basketball team, coached for 2 years, was an academic research and graduate assistant for his academic department, presented at several national and regional conferences and completed his thesis. Antonio works with the Super Bowl for the Players Networking Event. He is a motivational speaker and started a business that helps basketball players with confidence and skill development. Now, Antonio is excited to be back at UCO, with a hope to share what he has learned during his time out of college.

Carl Patterson

Originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, Carl Patterson recently graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) in December 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He intends on continuing his education by pursuing a M.A. in Counseling Psychology with a concentration in Child Play Therapy. Carl is a licensed claims adjuster and an active member in the community. He is also a member of the Black Male Initiatives and Fellows program at UCO which primary goal is to aid young African American men in becoming successful academically, professionally, and socially.

Chris Shepard

Chris Shepard is in his second year in the Dance Department at the University of Central Oklahoma. While he is not in school, he teaches Hip Hop at Movement Innovations Dance Studio and performs around the metro area. He has performed with Rhythmically Speaking for over sixteen years and is a four-year member of R.A.C.E. Dance Company’s Men of Race. He also has worked with the Pollard Theatre in: In The Heights, Shrek The Musical, The Color Purple, Hairspray and American Idiot.

Christy Vincent

Dr. Christy Vincent is a professor in the Mass Communication Department at the University of Central Oklahoma, where she teaches organizational and strategic communication courses. Her research interests include conflict management, mediation, change management, executive coaching, and training and development. Her interest in conflict management led her to the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at the Pepperdine University School of Law, where she earned a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). Christy is a communication specialist. Using her years of experience in organizational effectiveness and conflict management, she coaches individuals to increase their leadership effectiveness. While she has coached individuals in all roles, one of her specialties is working with young directors who are being groomed for higher-level positions. She particularly enjoys coaching young women leaders, who are building both careers and families at the same time. Christy helps her clients improve in essential behaviors such as managing time, setting priorities, uncovering values, working through conflict, coping with stress and managing multiple roles. She regularly conducts training courses for local corporations. Dr. Vincent’s professional experience outside of the university is in organizational development, management, sales and product development in private industry.

Jarrett Jobe

Jarrett Jobe currently serves as Executive Director of Leadership Programs at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). He also serves as an adjunct professor in political science and leadership at UCO and the University of Oklahoma, where he teaches courses related to leader-ship and international relations, particularly the United Nations. At UCO, he developed the Global Service Leadership Study Tours and has taken students to Peru, South Africa, Nicaragua, Uganda, Cuba and Costa Rica. He also taught courses and lectured in England, Germany, Belgium, Italy and Russia. He holds a Bachelor’s of Forensic Science from the University of Central Oklahoma and a doctoral degree in Political Science from the University of Oklahoma.

Jay Corwin

Jay Corwin serves as the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). One of his favorite parts of this job is being able to work with students to reach their goals, especially when they seemed previously unattainable. His role has often entailed speaking adventures on leadership, goal setting and going the “extra mile.” He has served as an adjunct faculty member at UCO and the University of Oklahoma (OU) since 2000, and has taught over 7,000 students. Outside of his professional life, Corwin enjoys spending time with his wife, Jana, and two kids, Sydney and Carson. He is also an active volunteer in the community with Deer Creek Public Schools, Edmond Mobile Meals and the OU Stephenson Cancer Center. His favorite community activity is serving as a wish granter for Make a Wish Oklahoma, which he has done for the past eight years. Corwin has a serious Disney addiction that makes him believe there can be “magic” everywhere.

Lacy Allstatt

Lacy Altstatt has been dancing for sixteen years. She is currently in her third year in the Dance Department at the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO). She has performed in many shows at UCO over the past three years. She has also been a member of Kaleidoscope Dance Company for one year. When she is not in school, she teaches at Tilt Dance Company, as well as teaching master classes around Oklahoma.

Lincka Elizondo

Lincka Elizondo, known onstage simply as Lincka, messaged everyone she could when she heard she won a 2016 “Best Latin” Woody Award during the Gazette Music Awards in early April. This voting category was introduced in 2016, making Lincka, a second-year student at the Academy of Contemporary Music at the University of Central Oklahoma, the first artist honored. Lincka’s bilingual pop rock melds traditional Mexican and contemporary American influences. Lincka released her No Shoes EP in October. The three-song effort, produced by frequent collaborator Rat Fink, is a sufficient way for fans to whet their palates before the artist puts out her first full-length album. Currently, writing her own songs and playing her own gigs occupies her time, but she also said it’s possible her solo music career could lead to other opportunities in the future.

Melissa Peet

Melissa R. Peet, Ph.D., is the Director of Integrative Learning and Knowledge Management at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She creates tools and methods that help people and organizations discover the vast reservoir of purpose, strength and intelligence they already possess, but exists outside of their conscious awareness. Several of these methods – Generative Knowledge Dialogue, Generative Coaching, and the Integrative Knowledge Portfolio Process, are being used to develop integrative and lifelong learners, leaders and change agents in a wide range of fields, disciplines and professions. Her coaching, learning, and assessment methods have been adopted by colleges, universities, and professional schools throughout the US and Europe, educating students in Liberal Arts, Natural and Life Sciences, as well as Business, Public Health, Dentistry, Medicine, Social Work, Engineering, Nursing, and Education schools. Dr. Peet also works with non-profit and business organizations to create succession planning and talent management strategies that leverage the vast reservoir of hidden knowledge, skills and intelligence that exists within their employees, clients and communities.

Oraynab Jwayyed

Oraynab Jwayyed lives in the Oklahoma City area, where she works as a money management consultant for women. She launched Business Interludes, LLC to teach women to manage their money. She has published two books. Her latest, ‘Starting Over: A practical guide for women after a money crisis,’ includes an 8-step guide that walks women through saving, investing, and managing debt. The book targets women who find themselves thrust in divorce and must learn to start over financially and manage their own money. Her first book, ‘Financial Literacy for Women: Helping women help themselves,’ discusses the issues women have with managing money and learning basic financial principles. Oraynab has been writing extensively for several media and online outlets on topics that affect women in finance and the workforce. Tim Hast

Tim Hast is an executive coach, corporate trainer and facilitator. He provides coaching and training in leadership, team building, and people skills, and helps people in the workplace get along with each other and share their toys. His passion is making the world a better place by helping people understand the importance of simply listening to each other. Tim lives in Edmond, Oklahoma with his wife, Ruthie, and his Jack Russell terriers.
