State of Fifths
State of Fifths is a co-ed a cappella group that was founded in the fall of 2008. With a group of several diverse MSU undergraduate students, State of Fifths has become one of the premiere a cappella groups on campus.
Alexis Adams
Alexis is a graduating student at Michigan State University, majoring in Humanities-Pre-Law and Global Studies in the Arts and Humanities. In addition to her academics, she proudly serves as an Intercultural Aide (ICA) in the residence halls on campus.
Cecilia Martinez-Gomez
An Assistant Professor in the Microbiology and Molecular Genetics department at MSU.
Courtney Bryant
Courtney Bryant is a graduate student in the Organizational Psychology MA/Ph.D. Program at Michigan State University where she researches issues surrounding diversity and interpersonal relationships in the workplace.
Jamal Afridi
Jamal is passionate about designing artificial intelligence (AI) for real-world applications. His Ph.D. in Computer Science at Michigan State University was focused on designing and investigating Al techniques for medical data analysis. He has presented his research at various national and international venues.
Lee Cleaveland
Lee Cleaveland is a student at MSU studying BFA Acting and BA Media & Information. Lee has been acting professionally in Michigan regional theatre for 10+ years and has done a variety of short films, commercials, and voice overs. Despite being born missing his left hand, Lee has found success as a musician and plays ten instruments, notably the guitar and trumpet.
Lucas Capalbo
Lucas S. Capalbo is a PhD student in Pscyhosocial Aspects of Sports at MSU.
Madeline MacLean
Madeline is a student at MSU studying Criminal Justice and Arabic. During her freshman year she was able to do research under a professor at MSU on the newsworthiness of mass shootings, which will be her topic of discussion.
Meghan Hurley
Currently Meghan invests her time pursuing an interdisciplinary social studies education degree through MSU while diversifying her skills with the MSU Student Housing Cooperative, Design for America, the Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention Team, and Xplore.
NiCole T. Buchanan
Nicole T. Buchanan, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Michigan State University. Dr. Buchanan provides bias and diversity-related training and consultation to academic departments and organizations, including training for graduate teaching assistants, academic and practicing psychologists, human resource managers and campus, city, and state police departments.
Robby Ratan
Robby Ratan is an Assistant Professor and AT&T Scholar at Michigan State University’s Department of Media and Information. He is also an affiliated faculty member of the College of Education’s program in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology. He received his Ph.D. from USC’s Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, his M.A. in Communication from Stanford University, and his B.A. in Science, Technology and Society, also from Stanford University.
