In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Francisco Chinesta, is currently Professor of Computational Mechanics at the Ecole Centrale of Nantes (France) and titular of the EADS Corporate Foundation International Chair. Francisco Chinesta is author of 185 papers in peer review journals 40 contributions to research books and more than 500 contributions to conference proceedings. He has participated in the organization (as member of the scientific or organizing committees, responsible of minisymposia and many times as conference chairman) of 130 workshops and conferences, most of them international. He supervised 28 PhD thesis. He received in 2000 the ESAFORM (European Scientific Association for Material Forming) award; in 2008 the French research prize Maurice Couette for his contributions in computational rheology. In 2011 he was nominated senior member of the prestigious “Institut Universitaire de France” – IUF - He is the editor in chief of the International Journal of Material Forming.
