After the last event of about 100 attendees and amazing response from the community in Surat, TEDx is coming back in 2017 with a fresh look under the name of TEDxSurat which aims to be BIGGER & BETTER.

TEDxSurat shares the same passion as TED. We are here to spread your ideas all across the globe. Our objective is to reach out and inspire people with “Ideas Worth Sharing” which has the potential to help people make a strong difference in their lives.

TEDxSurat is oriented at developing a community of like minded highly informed and engaged innovators, designers, thinkers, technologists and environmentally and socially concerned individuals in India's most developing city - Surat.

Aditya is the World's Youngest Single Father to Adopt a Child with Special Needs. Aditya is a maverick in the Indian adoption sphere as he led a change in several adoption related legislature when he raised the topic of adoption in India. A software engineer by profession, Aditya Tiwari fought a legal battle for two years to adopt Avnish. Aditya believes that the power of love and care brings in a lot of improvement in adopted children, and is actively involved in mental health awareness and adoption of children through various initiatives.

Her passion for cooking and on-screen performances has gained her nationwide fame and acclamation.

After completing graduation from University College Medical School in London, Marcus Ranney opted to practice clinical medicine in London and later he made the transition to Mumbai where for the past six years he has worked within the Healthcare industry as a consultant, for both private and public sector. Leveraging his network and domain expertise, to advise and develop strategies for a variety of healthcare organisations. Marcus is passionate about both sports and medicine, and is also a is a keen athlete and regularly participates in Half Marathons and Triathlons. He has recently been signed to publish his first book in the field of popular science. Marcus has always been a person of many interests and continues to expand his spheres of influence across different verticals through strategic mentorship and advisory roles to various startups.

Dr Srikumar Banerjee

Srikumar Banerjee is a DAE Homi Bhabha Chair Professor at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai and Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir, Srinagar.His major research contributions are in the areas of phase transformations in zirconium and titanium alloys, effect of radiation on order – disorder transitions and tailoring microstructure and texture of nuclear structural materials through thermo mechanical processing. He has over 350 research papers, coauthored a book titled Phase Transformation: Examples from titanium and zirconium alloys and co edited six books.

A veteran actor, director and producer, Jamnadas Majethia is well known for his free-spirited and unconventional work in theatres and films. Popularly known for Sarabhai vs Sarabhai and Khichadi, two of India's most loved and respected shows, JD is known to put his spirit into his iconic work that is always appreciated by the masses, often with a cult-like following. An industry veteran now, JD holds the opinion that television is a reflection of our society and at the same time plays a role in influencing it.

Jesus Mehta

Jesus, a.k.a The JZinator, is a beatboxing artist, a local voice who whirls together beatboxing, performance and an array of mouth sounds. At the young age of just 21, he has mastered the art of using the human voice to mimic instruments as well as natural sounds. Studying to become a computer engineer, this artist/performer is a true story of how TED and TEDx inspires greatness. When he couldn’t learn to play the drums due to a lack of space in his house, Jesus researched on the means to play drums without the instruments. Thus began his beatboxing journey. Inspired by Tom Thum’s truly exceptional TEDxSydney beatboxing performance, Jesus is a self-taught artist whose imitations enchant and are best experienced with your eyes closed/almost always leave goosebumps.

Shri. M Nagarajan is an IAS Officer of 2009 Batch, Gujarat Cadre. He is working as the Deputy Municipal Commissioner in Surat City, Gujarat. He is also the CEO of the Surat Smart City Project. In his previous tenure as a District Development Officer cum CEO of District Panchayat, Sabarkantha District of Gujarat he contributed on various issues related to education, public health and rural development. He has a working experience of 18 years in various government department including Indian Railways, Indian Audit and Accounts Department and Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

Muzammil Hussain

Having been born in Kargil(Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir), Muzammil was sent away by his parents at the age of 13, when he was just a 7th grader, to give him a wide berth from the mayhem of the 1999 Kargil War. Muzammil was rooted to his native land and returned after finishing his post graduate studies to help restore heritage of his native. Muzammil co-founded Roots Ladakh and with the intention of sharing knowledge, experimenting & awakening scopes of action he is currently spear-heading Roots Collective, an organisation which is rooted and dedicated to restoring the cultural heritage in areas of Ladakh through voluntarism. He also manages research & outreach for Central Asian Museum, Kargil.

Pankaj Jain, the creator of Hoax Slayer has spent his days to eradicate these rumors and false information by simply bringing forward the truth and slaying the hoax dragons. Hoaxes lying in the area between humorous to chaotic in nature are all wiped out by replacing it with factual evidence. Bringing forward the whole truth and filling up pieces of the puzzle is how Hoax Slayer operates, and in an era dependent on the Internet, such ideologies is what helps us keep our faith online.

Facilitator of 'The Drum Circle' based in Ahmedabad, Rujul Vora works on the dynamic interaction of musical and personal relationships. According to him, drum circles are a celebration of life, community and music-making in the moment; a therapeutic tool for health, wellness and a breath of fresh air in our fragmented stressed out world. After completing his masters degree from Milan, Rujul joined his family's construction business. According to him, The Drum Circle wasn't in his plan, it was just something that he carried subconsciously with him from his experience in college.

Dexterity Global, his organisation, has gotten universal appraisal, with him being invited to meet President Barack Obama at The White House. Sharad believes in the power of opportunities and correct utilization of energy that our youth have to shape our vision for the future.

India's Fastest Female Formula Racer

Flies at 871 kmph in the sky, and races at 270 kmph on the ground, commonly known as “India’s fastest lady,” Sneha Sharma is an Indian formula racing driver who competes in Formula 4 racing championships, and is also professionally a pilot with IndiGo airlines. At the intersection of profession and passion, speed and limits, Sneha remains undaunted and believes in pushing boundaries with her consistent podium finishes. She’s been racing nationally since she was just 17, more often than not she was the youngest and only girl on championship tracks. She believes that “When I am in my helmet, I am not a man or a woman; I am a racer.”

Sunny Kabrawala

Space & Rocket Research Innovator

An electronic engineer by profession, Sunny Kabrawala wants to further pursue research in space technology. At the age of 19, he launched his start-up STAR, Space Technology and Aeronautical Rocket, at the age of 9 his passion in rockets was ignited when he built his first rocket. In 2015, STAR was just a rocket club, now its achievements include building the first small satellite of Surat, launching solid-propelled rocket engines and constructing a mars rover. Today it focuses on two missions: building a small satellite mission and the cheapest launch vehicle of the world, Mission X. He believes that his work at STAR labs won't change the world, it will help us access a new one.
