Gregorio Rábago
Gregorio Rábago graduated from the School of Medicine at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. He completed his residency in Cardiovascular Surgery at the Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital in Paris. He moved to the USA to complete his cardiac surgery training at the University of Arizona where he performed a Fellowship in Cardio Thoracic surgery, specifically in the field of thoracic organ replacement. He obtained a position as assistant in the Department of Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery at the University of Navarra, becoming Head of Cardiac Surgery in 2009. His fields of research have focused mainly on cardiac transplantation and circulatory mechanical support in the context of end stage cardiac failure. His team has been a pioneer in the development of left ventricular assist devices and artificial heart in Spain.
