In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Carlijn Schoutens

Carlijn Schoutens (born December 12, 1994)is a Dutch-American speed skater who qualified for the U.S. team at the 2018 Winter Olympics in the women's 3,000 meter event and the women’s 5000 meter event. Schoutens qualified for the 2018 Winter Olympics by winning the national title at the United States Olympic Trials at the 3,000 meter distance. She also won the title at the 5,000 meter distance. Schoutens elected to compete for the United States over the Netherlands. Carlijn won a bronze medal in the team pursuit after skating in the semi-final race to help her team.

Meintje Beijen

Meintje Beijen is 18 year old student in her final year at the Stedelijk Gymnasium Haarlem, the Netherlands. Outside of school she enjoys acting, making music and working at a coffeecorner in Haarlem.
