Kaleidoscope—a toy in the shape of a tube that you look through to see different patterns of light made by pieces of coloured glass and mirrors. Our world is made up of a kaleidoscope of colours: the aureole in electric blue, the coral in fragrant flowers, and the energy in canary yellow etc. The abundance of colours also represents the ways in which we conduct ourselves in this patterned yet ever-changing world. In this kaleidoscope-like world, every turn may surprise you and define you as a “new” person, even though the colours and turns may appear to be flawed sometimes. Yet, beauty can be found in flaws as much as, if not more than in perfection.
The glitters inside the kaleidoscope never change in numbers, but a unique shape can be created in this tiny space with every spin. The situation inside the kaleidoscope is not unlike our experience in the world. We are living in a fast changing world with everything that is apparently changeable, attractive and distracting all at the same time. How humans can survive, navigate, and thrive in increasingly malleable environments is as much an art as it is a science. Our inspirational speakers would explore with our audience on innovation for the betterment of our community, as well as the individual self in relation to the world. If the only constant in our world is change, where do we find our belonging; how and should we fit in?
