Theme: Through the Course of Time

We believe TEDx is an ideal event to showcase Cedar Rapids as it continues to grow and attract more visitors and residents through its sustainability projects, economic growth, social attractions and more. The Cedar Rapids community has reached out in full force to support this event and are enthusiastic to showcase big speakers and ideas in their neighborhoods.

Our event will be hosted May 12th at our gorgeous downtown library, a perfect image of our community’s resilience and pride. Through keynote addresses, interactive breakout sessions and existing TED videos, we will explore the event theme ‘through the course of time’ to highlight our community as a significant contributor of change-inspiring ideas.

Our TEDxCedarRapids event will go from 1-5:30pm with an after party held on the rooftop of the CR Library from 5:30-6:30. Early bird tickets for the event go on sale Wednesday, March 28th at 8am for $30 and the price will be $35 beginning on Thursday, March 29th. An attendee ticket will get you a custom made Ray Gun TEDxCedarRapids shirt, an interactive program for the event, and a special after party gift to use on the rooftop! All attendee tickets will get you into the event with TEDx speakers, interactive interlude sessions, TED videos, and entrance to the after party!

Entrepreneurship

Daniel R. Tardy is an Engineer, Entrepreneur, Community-Based Social Practice Artists, Real Estate Developer, and Activist. He is the founder of two socially conscious real estate companies, House2Home, Inc and StaynGrow, Inc. He is interested in the intersection of people and their living space, and how re-imagining homes can impact neighborhoods in order to help us redefine our connection to a community (common-unity) and our relationship between one another.

Community Activist

Dorice Ramsey is an advocate on behalf of children and families and Executive Director at Jane Boyd Community House, a multi-service non profit agency working with over 4000 youth and families to instill the belief that as a community, “we can”.

Growth Mindset

Trevor Ragan is a nerd. He spends his time with the scientists and thought leaders in the world of development, he consumes their research and discoveries, connects the dots, and shares it with anyone that will listen. He's worked in hundreds of schools, with Fortune 500 companies, with professional and Olympic teams, and even in a few prisons across the country.

Social Change

Vanessa McNeal MSW, is an award winning documentary filmmaker and national speaker. She is the founder of McNeal Media, which seeks to create social change through story-telling.
