Theme: "Quo Vadis?" or "Where to?

It is wiser to show the traveller all the paths he can choose from but let his path be his own choice. TED shows the immense variety of paths that could be taken to show that there is no one-way to achieve anything, there are many. The more diverse the stories are, the more inspiring it becomes for people to follow their own unique path.
TED has become the platform that the World follows to satisfy its need to learn. Millions have been inspired by the unusual and outstanding stories told from the stage of TED. These stories have ignited curiosities on a massive scale reflecting the thought that in spite of all the challenges, it is possible to make this World a better place to live in.

Almost 3 years ago we commited ourselves to bring TED to Turkey. And that is what we’ve done for the past 2 years by organising 2 TEDx events. The first year we said “Let’s Reset”. We were amazed by the appeal it created. Last year we thought “What if?”, and we sought the answers. So you may wonder what about this year’s theme?

But before we carry on, I’d like to ask a few questions. Is there a place where our daily lives meet with the posibilities of science and technology? What is true, what is false? Should we believe the facticity of everything we are told and never question it? In our search for knowledge should we listen to others or carry on on our personal voyage? What should we read, what should we see, where should we go? And as we try to find the answers, new questions will undoubtedly arise making the journey all the more exhilirating.

So with all these thoughts we said “Quo Vadis” or in other words ”Where to?”
There are no limits to where we go or could go. And as we arrive to a new place, we learn again. On the map we start to pinpoint new destinations.
Our speakers will be our guides in this one-day exploration. They will talk about design and neuroscience, artificial intelligence and robotics, about social projects and journalism, human rights and politics, about nano technology and sustainability.
Our journey will concentrate on four main topics: “Overcoming Obstacles”, “A Brave New World”, “Sharing the Knowledge” and “Hit the Road again…”
So join us as we search for the answer to “QuoVadis”, “Where to?”.

Erdem Aksakal

SAP Türkiye Pazarlama Direktörü. Bilgi Üniversitesi’nde İşletme alanında akademik çalışmalar yapıyor. Beyaz yakalıların hayatını anlattığı “Mezeleri Güzel” isimli kitabı 2016’da yayımlandı ve kısa sürede 7. baskıyı yaptı. OT ve Digital Age dergisinde köşe yazarlığına devam ediyor. Birçok kurumda konuşmalar ve seminerler gerçekleştiriyor.

Fatmanur Erdoğan

İstanbul Pozitif Psikoloji Akademisi’nin kurucu direktörü. İletişim danışmanı. Uluslararası şirketlerin birleşme ve satın alma dönemlerinde Kurumsal İletişim departmanlarını kurdu. “Yaşam Kalitesi-Wellbeing” odaklı sürdürülebilir gelişim stratejileri geliştirdi ve yaydı. Dijital dönüşüm süreçlerindeki stratejik iletişim çalışmalarıyla, Türkiye’de ilklere imza attı. Amerika, Singapur ve Norveç’te uluslararası şirketlerin marka yönetimi ve pazarlama stratejilerine yön verdi. Türkiye’nin ilk kariyer ve yönetim blogu kariyeryolculugu.com’u kurdu. Hürriyet Daily News’te girişimcilik üzerine köşe yazarlığı yaptı. “Beyaz Yakalı Girişimci” adlı kitabı 2013 yılında yayınlandı.

İhsan Elgin

Kurumların girişimcilik dönüşümünü yöneten Core Strateji şirketinin kurucusu. Özyeğin Üniversitesi’nde Girişim Fabrikası kurucusu ve “Entrepreneur in Residence”. Erken seviye yatırımcılar için Türkiye’nin tek pazar analiz platformu Startups.Watch’un ve finansal teknolojiler alanında lider organizasyonu FinTech İstanbul’un kurucu ortağı. İş Modeli İnovasyonu, Kurum-Girişim İşbirliği ve Yalın iş Geliştirme konularında dersler veriyor; finansal ve perakende teknolojileri alanlarında melek yatırımcı.

Zeynep Zorlu

Zeynep Zorlu, İstanbul merkezli erken dönem şirketlere yatırım yapan girişim sermayesi şirketi TRPE Venture Partners’ın fon yönetimi ekibinde çalışıyor. Zeynep, Sınıf 20 Kauffman Üyesi’dir. Zeynep, gerçek müşteri sorunlarını ele alan, bilgi ve iletişim teknolojileri (BT) sektöründe yüksek büyüme potansiyeline sahip ve B2B çözümlerine daha fazla odaklanarak, şirketlere özel bir ilgi duyuyor. CreatorDen’de yönetim kurulu üyesi ve Twentify, Pisano, Deriva, Iven ve Startsub’da bir yönetim kurulu gözlemcisidir. Pfizer Türkiye’deki iş yaşamına adım atan Zeynep, kurumsal strateji geliştirme ve kurumsal zekası bölümlerinde çeşitli görevlerde bulundu. Daha sonra Zorlu Gayrimenkul Grubu ile karma kullanımlı bir mülk geliştirme yatırımcısı olan Zorlu Center için özel projelerde çalıştı. 2014 yılında TRPE Venture Partners’daki fon yönetim ekibine katıldı.
