In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anwar Al Saleh

Anwar Al Saleh is an 11th grade student at the American School of Kuwait. He is a Kuwaiti national with a vested interest in regional politics.

Denise Birch

Denise Birch is a Canadian expat worker in Kuwait. She is a mother of three daughters and engages with pastoral work.

Eleanor Burton

Eleanor Burton works in Educational Advising and Training in Kuwait and as Regional Educational Advising Consultant for GCC. Previously, she has spent time working with Insight Intercultural Journal in Turkey in addition to acting as the manager of a UN-funded Social Service program for urban refugees with Swiss NGO in Istanbul. Most recently, she has worked as Director of Communications for FSRI.

Farah AlQishawi

Farah ElQeshawy is a 9th grader in The American School of Kuwait. She's interested in sneakers, and basketball and she wants to pursue her dream of earning a basketball scholarship.

Issa Al Saleh

Issa Al Saleh is a freshman in high school at the American School of Kuwait. An avid reader, Al Saleh is interested in the influence of politics, culture, and belief on human interactions.

Janna Zeid

Janna Zeid is a 10th grade student at the American School of Kuwait.

Jason Massouh

Jason is a 10th grade student at the American School of Kuwait. He is involved in a number of sports in addition to drama and forensics.

Malak Omran

Malak Omran is a 16 year old that attends the American School of Kuwait. She is particularly interested in her English class and is hoping to one day go to school for Political Science and be able to give a voice to the voiceless.

Mariam Alozairi

Mariam Alozairi is a 10th grade student at the American School of Kuwait. She is the founder of Y Walk and has a vested interest in healthy living and community engagement.

Marissa Wickersheim

Marissa Wickersheim is a teacher at the American School of Kuwait. She loves her teaching job and enjoys being able to work after school of the plays and musicals. She was recently accepted to Columbia University for her Masters and is elated to be joining such a prestigious institution to further her education.

Philip Parkinson

Originally hailing from Canada, Parkinson currently lives with his wife and daughters in Kuwait. He serves as the Athletics and Activities director for the American School of Kuwait and previously taught history, both in Kuwait and in Egypt.

Rian Jagtiani

Rian Jagtiani is a student and student athlete at the American School of Kuwait. He is currently in the 10th grade.
