TEDxUofA is a university-wide initiative to engage with the community for an event filled with inspiration, discovery, and excitement.

Borrowing the template from the world-renowned TED conference, TEDxUofA aims to bring a TED-like experience to the University of Arizona.

Our vision is to showcase the most fascinating thinkers, dreamers and doers that come from the Zona family for an event of presentations, discussions, entertainment, and art that will spark new ideas and opportunities across all who attend.

Caleb Warren

Assistant Professor of Marketing

Caleb Warren is an assistant professor in the Marketing Department at the University of Arizona. He studies what makes things funny and what makes things cool.

Hester Oberman

Lecturer, Religious Studies & Classics

Hester Oberman was mostly trained in The Netherlands (Amsterdam and Leiden) and Germany (Tuebingen), with a Ph.D in Psychology of Religion and Philosophy of Religion. She works in the Religious Studies & Classics Department, and is also affiliated with the Honors College.

Jessica Kapp

Associate Department Head

Jessica Kapp is a geologist, educator, and writer. She teaches geology at the University of Arizona, where she is the associate head of the department of geosciences.

Joel Cuello

Professor, Agricultural-Biosystems Engineering

Joel Cuello is a Professor of Biosystems Engineering and Director of the Global Initiative for Strategic Agriculture in Dry Lands (GISAD) at The University of Arizona. A globally recognized expert in the engineering of sustainable biological and agricultural systems, Joel has designed various engineered systems, including those applied in bioregenerative space life support, industrial mass production of algae cultures, and vertical farming.

Jonathan Bean

Assistant Professor

Jonathan Bean has worked between architecture, technology, and marketing in academia and industry. Broadly, he is interested in how markets change and how we come to see things as normal. His research explores this in the context of high-performance building.

Nolan Cabrera

Associate Professor

Nolan Cabrera is scholar of race and racism, specifically focusing on Whiteness in higher education. He has also been deeply involved in the Mexican American Studies controversy in Tucson Unified, recently serving as an expert statistician for the plaintiffs in the federal case. He was the only academic featured in the MTV documentary "White People."

Sherard Robbins

Assistant Director for Equity & Student Engagement

Sherard Robbins serves as the Assistant Director of Equity & Student Engagement for the University of Arizona. In his role, Sherard serves as the primary educator for staff and students on issues related to diversity, inclusion, equity, and integrity education in the Residence Halls and the Dean of Students Office departments and programs. Sherard works closely with Housing and Residential Life in order to improve the department’s bias response protocol and assist in orchestrating their Multicultural Organizational Development. Along with serving as one of Arizona’s chief diversity educators, Sherard is also a trained First Amendment Monitor and campus facilitator on free speech issues related to the First Amendment.
