In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ankita Kumar, a 20 something year old is the founder of MonkeyInc an online travel blog about food, culture and adventure travel et al, and also a filmmaker. She has just returned from an insane 4 month long solo backpacking trip across South America (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia) where her experiences were super! She paintballed in Pablo Escobar’s mansion, lived survival style in the deep Amazon rainforests, experienced the insane wildlife of the (Planet Earth) famous Galapagos Islands, took a cheeky swing at the edge of the world, visited the Earth’s actual epicentre, amongst a zillion other cool things. Her aim now is to tell her story and shatter the stereotypical notion that South America is no continent for women.
