In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

As the assistant public affairs manager for the Lake County Forest Preserves, Allison Frederick's forestry and natural resources background and passion for land stewardship make her an asset to the conservation agency. She believes that we can join forces to take major action against environmental challenges, starting in our own backyards.

Former chemistry teacher Jon Bergmann is one of the pioneers of the "flipped classroom," an innovation that has sparked interest and conversation around the globe. He hosts "The Flip Side" radio show and has a popular YouTube Channel. He was recognized in 2002 with the Presidential Award for Excellence for Math and Science Teaching.

Martina Mathisen

Professional Storyteller

Five years ago professional storyteller Martina Mathisen began Edu-tainment Living History so could share history in a dynamic way. In full costume, Mathisen uses drama to immerse audiences young and old in the lives of strong women like Cleopatra and Sacajawea. She travels throughout the Midwest delivering programs that are educational and interactive.
