Theme: Thinking Outside of the Box/Alışılmışın Dışına Çık

Hello and welcome all!

You are now at the official website for the TEDxYouth@FMVErenköyIşık event, which will take place at FMV Erenköy Işık High School, on 6th October 2018.

Our theme is “Thinking Outside the Box”. With this theme, we would like to encourage each and every member of the audience to expand their mind. We firmly believe that limitation is the worst thing you can ever do to a person and with this in mind, we invite everyone to think BEYOND the limits. Together, we will try to think the unthinkable because, as you might know, creative minds are the insurance of a bright future ☺

Our full day event will be filled with great ideas, shared by great speakers, and enjoyable activities, organized by our devoted entertainment team. While you are enjoying your day, our press team will be photographing, recording and live streaming the event through our social media accounts.

Alp Köksal

Director of Khan Academy Turkey

Having studied in both Turkey and the United States at high-school and undergraduate levels, I have developed a global and multicultural perspective on education. I earned my BA degree in Business Administration from Koç University, and MA degree in European Studies from Boğaziçi University as the top of my class with a 4.0 GPA. I worked as a doctoral level researcher at Boğaziçi University and I am currently a PhDc in the Department of Political Science and International Relations.

Deniz Kurtoğlu

Deniz Kurtoğlu Eken received her B.A. in English Language and Literature from Hacettepe University (1987), her UCLES Diploma from Middle East Technical University (1990), her M.A. in TEFL from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, USA (1991)and her Ph.D. in ELT from Middle East Technical University (2000). She worked at Bilkent University for 14 years, first at the School of English Language and later at the Graduate School of Education. She joined Sabancı University in August 2002.

Emirhan Erdoğan

iOS Engineer - Appyist Founder

Emirhan develops delightful applications for Apple eco-system at the software agency he founded, “Appyist”. He endeavors to create the infinite loop between the three; learn, experience and share. Emirhan is the only scholarship invited by Apple to their World Wide Developers Conference from Turkey in ’16 and ’17. He is also one of the 13 scholarships who was given the opportunity to interview with the international press and share their projects with Tim Cook, CEO of Apple. He was thrilled to introduce the world of Apple and its culture to the young people so he has founded TurkishKit. A non-profit organization for students to learn, think, design, and develop besides helping and sharing with each other. He is also the youngest person to be selected as a mentor for Google’s global acceleration program, “Launchpad”.

Esat Uğurlu

Founder of Globed E-Learning

Spent more than a third of his life abroad and have assisted hundreds of educational institutions in more than sixteen countries including the USA, Thailand, China, S. Korea, Singapore, India, Lao PDR, Cambodia, and Hong Kong. Since his graduation from Brandeis University in Massachusetts, Esat’s main interest and focus has been on using various technologies for better, more effective teaching and learning. After completing his duties at UNESCO Bangkok – Education for Sustainable Development unit and spending six years working in the e-learning sector in the Asia-Pacific region, Esat moved to Istanbul in 2012 and founded GLOBED (www.globed.co), an educational content distribution and consultancy company that serves some of the most successful K-12 schools in Turkey.

Ufuk Tarhan

Futurist, Economist, Author

Ufuk Tarhan, Fütürist, Ekonomist, Yazar ve Keynote Konuşmacısıdır. M-GEN Yazılım Ve Dijital İletişim Hizmetleri Limited Şirketi’nin Kurucusu ve Başkanıdır. Çalışma hayatı boyunca “Dünya Gazetesi-Bilişim Sektörünün En Başarılı İş Kadını Ödülü” gibi pek çok meslek ve yaratıcılık ödülü almıştır. ODTÜ Ekonomi (Ekonometri) Bölümü Mezunudur. Bahçeşehir Üniversitesi’nde “İnovasyon ve Girişimcilik” üzerine yüksek lisansını tamamlamıştır. Dünyanın en iyi 100 Kadın Fütüristi listesindeki tek Türk olan Ufuk Tarhan, Dijital mecralarda defalarca “takip edilmesi gereken ilk 25-30 “Social Influencer” listelerinde yer almıştır ve ayrıca 2013’den bu yana ülkemizde kutlanan 1 Mart Gelecek Günü’nün de yaratıcısı ve küratörüdür.
