In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Featuring on radio programs including 2GB 873am and ABC Radio National, Ali is also an author and a contributor to The House of Wellness TV program on Channel 7 Australia.

Ali Walker

Ali Walker is a Lecturer and Research Fellow in leadership, human connection and human rights at the Centre for Social Impact (UNSW Sydney). Ali is the author of Get Conscious: How to Stop Overthinking & Come Alive (Hay House, May 2017). Her second book, Collective Consciousness & Gender will be released in October 2018 (published by Palgrave Macmillan). Ali's work focuses on the question: What conditions and systems lead to personal and social flourishing? Ali is a contributor to The House of Wellness TV program on Channel 7 Australia and features on a variety of radio programs including 2GB873am and ABC Radio National. Ali speaks regularly for companies, organisations and schools about leadership and well-being. From Sydney, Australia, Ali spent several years researching consciousness, social change, and law with a doctorate from the Australian National University. In addition to her PhD, Ali has a Masters degree in International Law & International Relations and two undergraduate degrees in Law (with Merit) and Arts (Politics & International Relations) from UNSW Sydney. Ali also has a Graduate Diploma in Integral Coaching.

Elizabeth Ross-Ward

Elizabeth can't remember a time when she wasn't enthralled by theatre and Shakespeare - she can only assume she absorbed it from her mother teaching drama whilst pregnant. Elizabeth left her regional NSW hometown to travel the globe in search of inspiring theatre, before returning to UNSW to complete her combined Honours BA Degree in History and Theatre & Performing Arts. Since then Elizabeth has worked in professional theatre, currently working in Operations at Riverside Theatres. Most recently and excitingly, Elizabeth co-founded 63 Globes theatre company, whose aim is to create accessible and diverse theatre. She directed her first production of Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, a modern interpretation set on Oxford Street complete with fabulous drag queens.

Ian Elliot

Ian Elliot spent his working career rising from Mail Boy to Chairman and CEO of then Australia’s largest Advertising Agency, George Patterson’s. His insights of understanding customers at a granular level allowed him to help build and maintain brand trust for his clients. Best known as the Architect of the Optus brand and the iconic ‘Yes’ campaign, Ian retired at 48 before taking on roles as director and Chairman of public and private companies and government instrumentalities. ‘Building brands is all about building trust’ he says. ‘But over the last few years the trust that many of us had in institutions, brands, corporations and individuals has never been more challenged and broken. These behaviours and diminution of trust have far reaching consequences for the way society and the economy operates. His subject ‘The Death of Trust’ is a fascinating insight that collects the examples and correlates them to societal breakdowns and potential consequences and solutions.

Jessamine Chen

Jessamine Chen is a Clinical Psychologist and the Head of the WSLHD Anxiety Treatment and Research Unit, one of the few specialist anxiety treatment services in NSW Health. She uses her platform as a clinician and a researcher to promote outstanding quality anxiety treatment in the public health system, as well as training the next generation of clinicians. She believes strongly that evidence-based treatment and compassion are the keys to helping people overcome their anxiety.

Michael Kasumovic

Michael is an Associate Professor at UNSW Sydney. An award winning evolutionary biologist and science communicator, Michael explores the role the social environment has on how individuals develop and behave. He now uses what he's learned to create video games that help teachers and students around the world easily perform science experiments to learn more about the world around them.

Sam Thevanayagam

Sam Thevanayagam is the President and CEO of Parts Life, Inc. Sam came to the U.S. in 1985 at the age of 22 to study at community college, in the hopes of pursing his dreams. From the time he was a youth, he displayed an entrepreneurial spirit. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing from Oral Roberts University in 1988 and working many years in the automotive aftermarket for other companies, Sam saw the opportunity to start his own business. Realizing his vision, Sam started Parts Life, Inc. in 2007. Sam also co-authored his first book, The First 10 Runs in Singles in 2017. Designed to energize and inspire, this innovative book takes the strategies used to win in cricket and shows the reader how they can be used to achieve success in life as well. Sam has accumulated unique and universal life lessons in the United States and abroad to Motivate, Inspire, Nurture, Direct and Empower (M.I.N.D.E.) those who seek to fulfill their own purpose in life. He has addressed entrepreneurs, students, church communities, business leaders, and more. He especially enjoys speaking on topics that align with his values of hard work, grit, empathy, compassion, continuous improvement and stewardship.

Wendy Sharpe

Wendy Sharpe is one of Australia’s most awarded artists, she lives and works in Sydney and Paris. She has been awarded The Sulman Prize, two Travelling Scholarships, The Portia Geach Memorial Award (twice), The Archibald Prize, and many others. She has been a finalist in The Sulman Prize 14 times ( more than any other artist ), and The Archibald Prize six times. She has held over 50 solo exhibitions around Australia and internationally. including solo exhibitions in China, France, Germany and the UK. Major commissions include, Olympic pool size mural for Cook and Philip Park Aquatic Centre, Sydney, a commission by the Australian War Memorial, as an Australian Official Artist to East Timor (the first woman since WWII). She was also a member of the council of the Australian War Memorial for 9 years She has a great interest in the performing arts. This ranges from making work about The Australian Ballet and the Australian Opera, to working with burlesque performers and drag shows. She was also worked in collaboration with the Australian Art Quartet drawing live on Stage at City Recital Hall Sydney and been artist in residence with Circus Oz. She recently worked a major drawing project ‘Seeking Humanity -Portraits of Asylum Seekers’ for the Asylum Seeker Centre in Sydney, where she is now their ambassador She has also been awarded many International artist residencies in Paris (twice), Egypt, Antarctica (twice) , Mexico and China. In 2018-19 residence with the State Library of NSW and currently has an exhibition Elsewhere - travels through Syria, Iran,Egypt,Jordan and Morocco touring regional galleries
