Pierluca Maffey
Architect
Pierluca Maffey was born in Rome 47 years ago and grew up there until the age of 9 and then left to live in Turin (Italy), Teheran (Iran), New Delhi (India) until he was 17. While spending one year in law school, he discovered his real passion and finally decided to follow it by switching to the School of Architecture in Rome. He started his own firm in Rome even before graduating and once he obtained his Italian registration he worked in Bahrain, Russia, China, UAE, Brasil, India, and the USA. Currently he is a partner and design director at John Portman & Associates where he has worked since 2006. He has a true passion for architecture, for its healing and inspirational power it can transmit to people. Maffey’s dream is to built awareness among common people regarding the importance of the built environment in their daily life.
Sara Sohani
Student
Sara Sohani is a senior at Walton High School. She is interested in Psychology and scientific advancements and during her spare time she volunteers at healthcare facilities. She does so because she strongly believes in giving back to her community in a meaningful way. Apart from volunteering, she explores her artistic side by painting, listening to music, and performing photography. Sara thanks the Walton TedX program for allowing her to share her story by giving her an amazing opportunity.
Vicki Bunke
School Psychologist
Dr. Bunke is a licensed psychologist who has worked for Cobb County School District for 20 years. Through her work as a school psychologist, she has direct experience with early intervention services, student support team resources, response to intervention requirements, and individualized education programs. Dr. Bunke received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from University of North Florida in 1992. She earned a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Mississippi State University in 1994 and her Doctorate Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Georgia in 1998. She lives in East Cobb with her husband and daughter.
