Theme: PERSPECTIVE

A particular perspective is a particular way of thinking about something, especially one that is influenced by your beliefs or experiences. A way of regarding situations, facts and judging their relative importance.The proper or accurate point of view or the ability to see it; objectivity. The theory of suggesting three dimensions on a two-dimensional surface, in order to recreate the appearance and spatial relationships or a scene in recession present to the eye. More specific, not all people think in the same way.Differences may sometimes be small and may sometimes be big and these depend on many parameters: the biological construction of each one, his upbringing, as well as his social and emotional intelligence. Each individual speaker will talk about their personal experience that led them form a certain logic and explain how they changed their perspective on life. Of course, he can also talk about the prospects, multiple choices and alternatives of a topic . In this year’s TEDx we pursue to broaden the horizons and open new ways in thinking. We want ideas that can motivate and help the audience reset their perspective on life to be heard.

Amalia Kosmidou

Make Up Artist

Amalia Kosmidou was born and raised in Alexandroupolis. She has just graduated from the Department of Aesthetics and Cosmetology of the Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. She now works as a sales manager and make-up artist in a well-known cosmetics company. The most important part of her studies was the elaboration of her final dissertation, which focused on applying make-up on visually impaired women. Her study triggered a splendid collaboration with the Panhellenic Association of the Blind - Regional Union of Central Macedonia.

Apostolos Tzelettas

Tzelettas Apostolos is born in germany and raised in Ioannina.From his little age he occupied with classic sports and he was a member of national team with 4 balkan medals and many national wins. In 1999 he entered in Physical education university of Aristotle and of course he graduated 4 years later. Also he occupied with classic sports, in team sports and in personal training. Trach athletes ,badminton athletes andi basketball teams succeed with national awards (3rd place in global school basketball in 2009, 3rd place with athlete Grigoria Keramida in Mediterranean championship in 4x100 which took place in Mirsini in 2013, 6th place in 100 meters with the same athlete in European track championship) more of 10 Balkanin Metals and more of 50 Mediterranean metals.In 2018 one of his dreams come true with his wife when they open in the city centre of Thessaloniki the most modern boutique called “Somatos Techni”.

Chris Alefantis

Chris Alefantis was born in Melbourne, Australia, where his parents immigrated in the mid-50s.He is the founder and Editor in Chief of “Shedia”, Greece’s only street paper, which launched in March 2013. “Shedia” -as all street papers worldwide- is a social enterprise and self-help model that provides an innovative solution to urban homelessness and unemployment. It offers people a dignified way to earn their own living and support themselves and their families. In addition to employment, “Shedia” aims to offer its vendors on-going social support and training opportunities. “Shedia” is a member of the International Network of Street Papers. In 2006, he founded the “Kick Out Poverty” campaign in Greece, incorporating the Greek Homeless Football Club. It is an initiative which uses sport -and in particular, football- as a way to energize homeless people and support them in their quest to rebuild their lives. Since 2007, The Greek Homeless Team is a member of the “Homeless World Cup”.

Elena Papa was born and raised in Thessaloniki. She studied Pedagogical Preschool Education in Volos and continued her studies at RomaTre University in Rome,doing her Master\'s degree in "Administration and Administration of Schools with Innovative Educational Systems”. Today, she is a PhD candidate at a Spanish University doing research on the benefits of Multiple Intelligence theory in children. Since she was a child her dream has been a more equal and open education. Having the dream to change the prospects in education and having traveled and worked abroad, in 2016 she created The Key Creative School, the first Multiple Intelligence’s School in Thessaloniki.In TEDx she shared with us the experiences and the difficulty of choosing changing perspective and becoming yourself the change you wanna see in the world.

Anastasia Dhracha is a pregraduate student of the ECE department of AUTh and a co- founder of the innovative application,wich translates baby crying,iCry2Talk.She is involved in the field of Biomedical Technology and Artificial Intelligence, runs the largest multidisciplinary student group in Greece to promote the industry, EMB AUTH and is also a trainer in the European Youth Parliament.

Co-founder of Future Agro Challenge, a global leader in agrifood tech and empowerment of farmers. Founder of mscomm Group. Michalis is an advocate of open innovation mechanisms focusing on building a corporate-startup engagement platform for creating value to the economy and society. Top-tier strategist, designer of innovative policies, services and products working with the European Commission, the European Parliament, EIT Food, SRSS and the Committee on World Food Security of the United Nations. He has served twice in the Greek Government. He is a visiting Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Alexander Fleming Biomedical Sciences Research Center and the Athens Medical School. His best achievement so far is being married to Carla and becoming a father of two boys.

Nicolaos Theodosiou

Professor of Civil Engineering

Nicolaos Theodossiou was born in Famagusta Cyprus.He is currently a professor at the Division of Hydraulics and Environmental Engineering and director of the Water Resources Engineering and Management Laboratory, of the Department of Civil Engineering of A.U.Th. He is working on water resources management and on the protection and restoration of the environment, while participating in a number of national or international scientific committees. He has published more than 120 papers in scientific journals and conference proceedings. He is, amongst others, the president of the board of the Hellenic Hydrotechnical Association, Coordinator of the Environmental Council of AUTh, Director of the postgraduate program “Protection of the Environment and Sustainable Development”. He chairs the Sustainable Development Solutions Network for the wider area of the Black Sea, operating under the auspices of the Secretary General of the United Nations.

Nikos Koutsmanis

Multidisciplinary Artist

Nikos Koutsmanis is a multi-talented and multidisciplinary artist that leaves in Thessaloniki. He settled in Thessaloniki form Paris, France at a young age and his first interested were drawing and cars. He studied Business Administration & Management but he couldn’t get away from his passion, eye communication. He cofounded creative office “Redfish” in early ‘90s. He is seriously involved in other forms of art such as music and photography.

Plaza Ensemble

Musical Group

Plaza Ensemble was founded in 2004 by Thanasis Mpililis, Akis Archondis, Kostas Tsougras and Giannis Polimeneris, aiming at performing compositions that will address a wide audience and simultaneously reflect the academic ethos and the substantial artistic value of their creators. The members of Ensemble have studied music in conservatories, music academies and universities in Greece and abroad and for the last twenty-five years they have been participating in concerts and recordings of miscellaneous music genres (classical, contemporary, cinematic music, Greek “entechno” (art) music, nuevo tango, freestyle, jazz etc.). Every instrumental or vocal artwork that is concluded in Ensemble’s repertory is adjusted and orchestrated by the group’s members, aiming to promote their distinctive sound palette as well as to suggest an unconventional performing aspect of the original composition.

Polina Giannioti

Nutritionist

Polina Giannioti studied as a dietologist and nutritionist at the Technological Institution of Crete, where she came to know and love the science of nutrition. For the last 5 years, she has her own practice, while for the last 6 years she has been occupied in the field of information concerning nutrition through radio and television. Her goal is to promote well-being by means of maintaining balanced nutritional habits. Since October 2016, she has taken over the position of chief of the Dietology Sector of IEK Alfa Thessaloniki, while giving nutritional lessons.

Stathis Kolias

Lawyer & Comedian

Stathis Kolias was born and raised in Thessaloniki. He studied Law at the Democritus University of Komotini and from 2016 he is working as a lawyer in Thessaloniki. He has worked as a film critic in press (Xronos of Komotini, Parallaximag, Cinedogs), radio (FM 100) and television (“Cinema xwris kaskol” at TV100). He gave film seminars to schools as a member of the educative program “Pame Cinema?” He was the assistant director of the short film “The After Life” that was awarded in the 40th International Short Film Festival of Drama in 2017, in the 10th International Film Festival Artfools of Larisa in 2018 and was projected in 58th Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Also, he was part of the group “Sto Peripou” in Youtube that is making funny recaps of series. From 2015 till today he is working at the same time as a stand-up comedian with a variety of shows in bars, places and festivals (“Maieftirio Comedy Club”,«European Music Day by Ετ3 in Thessaloniki in 2017»,«IN-Fest 2017»)

Stelios Malakopoulos

Parathlete

Stelios Malakopoulos was born in Thessaloniki in 1996. Today he is a distinguished athlete and a student of the Department of Economics of the University of Macedonia. From a very young age he showed his inclination towards sports and especially basketball. A car accident in August 2015 changed his life forever as both of his legs were mutilated. However, he quickly managed to stand up and create a new perspective in life by becoming a great athlete. More specifically, he stopped training basketball and started his career in athletics. In 2018 he won the 2nd place in 200 meters and the third place in 400 meters in the European Championship held in Berlin. A year later, in 2019, he broke the World Record of the long jump attaining the score of 6.80 meters. Moreover, Stelios holds all the Pan- Hellenic records of the specific sport. Thanks to his faith in God he never stops trying. Last but not least, Stelios’s next goal is a distinction in the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Who would have told him, that one day he would make a room full of people listen to him talking about himself. When we asked him to describe himself, the only thought that went through his mind was that he once again was working with amateurs because we could have just search for his history. But who are we kidding ? He came for free. Unfortunately, not only he is keeping you company for the rest of the day but you will have to applaud him as well. A guy that never really knew why everyone thinks he is a comedian. There is not really anything more to say. He is now taking the stage. This is Thanasis Passas.

TheSPEAKERS were founded in February of 2018 by Apostolos Koumarinos. They are the first self-development lab which focuses on developing soft skills and more specifically those of public speaking. They are membered by Apostolos and Konstantinos Peristeris. Apostolos is a serial public speaker, business executive and amateur ultramarathon runner. Konstantinos is a resident doctor in the field of gynecology and obstetrics and when he is not busy welcoming new lives into the world, he encourages people to improve their lives through theSPEAKERS. Their passion for communication led to numerous speeches and workshops among the most prestigious conferences and successful businesses in Greece as they seek to fill the gap between academic studies and skills that are required as necessary in modern times.
