Theme: Living Legacies

We believe humankind has come to a turning point in its evolution as it must acknowledge it has gained the power to alter not only its children’s life but also their biological, technological and cognitive perspectives for the centuries to come, either in a positive or a negative way.

This conclusion leads us to wonder on the stance humanity should adopt in front of this: should we focus on our mere survival in the short run, through a fully technology-oriented perspective, or should we adopt a broader outlook on our era to consider “transmission” as a more viable way to take up the challenges we are exposed to? Finally, why should these two positions be mutually exclusive?

Moreover, how can we explain that the world being in such a state right now? How did we get to here?

The idea of legacy accounts for a bridge between various areas, their customs, their achievements, their beliefs. One way or the other, a legacy is always built, though often unconsciously.

Therefore, to make the structure of a legacy apparent, we plan to explore as many subjects as technology and Ethics, past and tomorrow’s education, space exploration, new energies and our interaction with the environment. These topics are a breeding ground to reflect over legacies we inherited, we are building and those we leave to our children.

Emerald De Leeuw

Data Protection and Privacy specialist

Emerald de Leeuw is a data protection and privacy specialist, entrepreneur. She joined MIT Sloan’s School of Business’ Cybersecurity consortium on critical in fracture (IC3) in 2018 where she contributes on areas relating to European data protection law. She founded EuroComply, a company that advises organisations around the world on matters relating to data protection and privacy. She is a faculty member and board examiner at the Law Society of Ireland on the Technology Law and Data Protection Courses In 2018 she was awarded the prestigious German Marshall Fund Fellowship from the US Department of State. She was recommended by Forbes as a female entrepreneur to watch and has featured frequently in publications such as Bloomberg Law. In 2017. She works with the European Young Innovators Forum and the German Marshall Fund of the United States to improve transatlantic cooperation for entrepreneurs and to improve the ecosystem for female professionals and entrepreneurs.

Hélène Schmit

Former street luge champion - work-life designer

Helene Schmit is a coach for entrepreneurs and leaders, who bases all her work on self-awareness and how to leverage it in a work life to reach fulfilment and performance. She is a future-of-work activist, and former champion in street luge and classic luge. She has a strong experience of male dominated environments, both in sports and professionally, and has realised that there were very interesting bridges between her vision of women (dis-)empowerment and her work approach.

Jérémy Lamri

Entrepreneur - Head of Innovation at JobTeaser

Jeremy Lamri is an entrepreneur, co-founder of Monkey tie, Lab RH and Hub France IA. He currently leads Research & Innovation at JobTeaser, the European leader in youth employment and guidance. He studied at Oxford and HEC Paris, and holds a PhD in psychology from Paris Descartes. He is the author of two books published by Dunod: Innovations RH and Les Compétences du 21ème Siècle. Speaker on the topics of the future of work, HR, organizations and ecosystems, he also teaches, at HEC Paris, Sciences Po Paris and Mines Telecom.

Katherine Winter-Sellery

Parental coach

Katherine Winter-Sellery, wife, mother, international coach, philanthropist, global citizen, founder of the Conscious Parenting Revolution and passionate advocate for mental health and reform. Sellery has been coaching parents, children and executives on conscious communication for over 16 years, is a trained mediator as well as a breathing meditation teacher for the Art of Living Foundation. Sellery’s work and theory of change, is focused on healing transgenerational dysfunction, due to her own personal experiences from childhood to motherhood. Sellery served as the Chair for the Cub Scouts of America in HK creating strong community engagement and service and is currently serving as Chairwoman, Founder of the Mental Health and Mental Fitness Summit, with the primary mission to change the landscape, dialogue and policies around mental health. Her personal goal is to provide solutions, tools and preventative non-violent transformations to enforce safety in our communities and well-being

Lucille Achard

Computer Science engineer - professional actress

Lucille is a French engineer and female entrepreneur, specialized in computer science. Actress in her spare time, she is fascinated by literature and theater: she performed various plays in front of hundreds of people. In 2018, she created her own company, Speech de Poche, which helps companies to highlight their know-how using credible and moving speeches. Nominee at the 7th edition of Lyon Start-up, she works closely with Positive Planet and HEC Lausanne.

Mikaa Mered

Geopolitics professor - Arctic & Antarctic expert

Mikaa both teaches Polar geopolitics and the geopolitics of Hydrogen at the ILERI School of international relations in Paris. His first book, “Les Mondes Polaires”, will be published by the French University Press (PUF) this October. Mikaa is also adjunct lecturer in geopolitics and international relations at NEOMA business school, independent external expert to the European Commission and member of the Humanities and Social Sciences Expert Group of the Scientific Committee for Antarctic Research. Since 2014, he has presided the French Polar Cluster, a non-profit network of stakeholders involved in Arctic and Antarctic policy and innovation.

Naida Culshaw

University lecturer

Naida Culshaw is a lecturer in the department of People, Organization, Society in Grenoble Ecole de Management (France). She's also a workshop facilitator and coach for professional and personal projects (small groups, teams and individuals). Intercultural Management, Organizational Theory, and the rise of Social Entrepreneurship are among the subjects she explores in the classroom. As a facilitator and coach she encourages individuals to step back from their assumptions to better align their own intrinsic aspirations and directives. Her passion is to create learning environments designed to promote critical reflection, growth, and stretch-thinking.

Scot Rafkin

Planetary and Atmospheric scientist

Dr. Rafkin is a Planetary and Atmospheric Scientist who studies the weather and climate of Earth and other planetary bodies. He is actively involved in a number of planetary missions, including the Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity rover and the Dragonfly mission to Titan, and he has a particular interest in bringing to fruition a future human mission to Mars. He has authored and co-authored over 100 peer reviewed publications, has provided atmospheric predictions for the entry, entry, descent, and landing of every NASA mission to the surface of Mars since the Mars Exploration Rovers in 2003, and is developing instrumentation to measure the abundance of compounds on other planets, moons, asteroids, and comets that can be put to use in space.
