In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Mia Kemppaala

Mia Kemppaala is the founder of Polar Bear Pitching, community builder and entrepreneurial education specialist at University of Oulu. She started out her career as a teacher in natural sciences and later became immersed in entrepreneurial education, event production and marketing. She is often referred to as a weaver of opportunities whose passion is to connect the dots – people, ideas, and all things odd.

Nønne Prisle

Nønne Prisle is an atmospheric scientist. She studies the thermodynamics and surface chemistry of nanoparticles in the air. Her research uses synchrotron light sources, climate models, and artificial intelligence.

Simo Kekäläinen

Simo Kekäläinen works as a development manager at the University of Oulu. He is also an entrepreneur and an aspiring voice actor who someday wants to voice a character in a Disney movie.

Tiina Ristikari

Tiina Ristikari works as a Director of Development at the Itla Children’s Foundation of Finland. Itla foundation promotes the wellbeing of children and families in Finland, under the auspices of the Finnish parliament. Tiina Ristikari leads the innovations stream of Itla, where she brings together the state-of-the-art research on child and family resilience and the national efforts to develop services for families.
