Anjali Rajgopal headed the E-Commerce Division of Indian Terrain, a premier retail apparel brand. Anjali has also managed her own PR Firm, touché PR, based out of Chennai focusing on retail, hospitality, authors and artists. She holds vast experience in PR and Corporate Communication as she has worked with top firms, including Finn Partners in New York City. Anjali also has significant experience in Media having worked with NDTV, Chennai Live 104.7 and Deccan Chronicle as a show host/producer, radio host and columnist respectively. Using her own story as a pivot, she injects her sense of humor to ease people into confronting issues of identity, acceptance and reconciliation with life and circumstance. Having lived all over the world, she seeks to continue her academic pursuits in the field of Management, E-Commerce, Digital and Data Science.
Scientist & High Energy phenomenologist
D. Indumathi is a Scientist working at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences, Chennai. She is a high energy Phenomenologist, which means that she tries to bridge the gap between a theorist's ideas and observational phenomena by analysing the predictions of the theory for a given experiment. In particular, her work has been to probe, at a fundamental level, what it is that the Universe is made of. She is currently involved in understanding the properties of exotic particles called neutrinos, and is a part of an ambitious effort to build a neutrino detector in an underground observatory in India. Indumathi is interested in science at all levels and has simultaneously been engaged over the last three decades in enthusing young school and college students about science, by showing them that science can be fun. As a part of this activity, she is also an Editor of a children's bimonthly science magazine called Jantar Mantar, that has survived 25 years against all odds.
Independent Journalist
Nayantara Narayanan is an independent journalist who lives in Bangalore. She has worked as a news producer for CNBC-TV18 and as a reporter and editor with online publications headlining topics of health, science, and environment. While working with Scroll.in, she helped set up and run the health section Pulse. She has won a Ramnath Goenka award for her reporting on the 2015 Tamil Nadu floods and was also awarded Journalist of the Year 2018 by the Indian Society for the Study of Pain.
Canine Behaviourist
Sindhoor Pangal is a canine behaviourist and an educator in Bangalore, India. She is India’s representative for Pet Dog Trainers of Europe (PDTE) and the founder of BHARCS, a canine education academy. She is also passionate about studying the ethogram of free ranging dogs. Sindhoor is a prolific writer who used to maintain a weekly column in the Bangalore Mirror for two years. She currently maintains the BHARCS blog. Before entering the world of dogs, Sindhoor worked in several industries. She worked at Yahoo, first as an Engineer and then as a product manager. She then moved on to head technology for Parikrma Humanity Foundation after which she spent a few years as a VP at a Silicon Valley based startup. However, she believes she has found her true calling, working with animals.
Dance Group
ANARTANA is a dance team formed by a group of passionate and like-minded young women in Chennai. Combined with spirit and dedication towards the art form, their creative expression through dance is dynamic yet charming, and alluring yet awakening. The team was founded by Simran Sivakumar.
Acapella Band
The SPASHT is an acapella band that started as a five girls team that jammed over cafes in Chennai. They have performed at Carnatic Network, Motta Maadi Music & Dussehra festival at Samayapuram temple. Their main motto is to develop interest over Carnatic music and explore other genres.
Film Professor, Critic & Gender Activist
Uma Vangal is an affiliated scholar at Kenyon College, Ohio and an Adjunct Faculty at Asian College of Journalism teaching Film, Gender and Culture. Her film ‘Akku Leela’ aided Supreme Court to rule in favour of two Dalit women whose struggle she had documented. A Fulbright Nehru Scholar, she taught at Kenyon College, Ohio bringing in a better understanding of India through her courses “Indian Cinema as a Social lens: Bollywood and Beyond” and “Women in Film in South Asia”. As a Founder-trustee of the MIRA Trust, she works with youngsters especially young girls/women to create opportunities for empowerment, employability and enhanced livelihood choices. Her talks on Gender sensitivity focus on creating a woman’s perspective among media practitioners and audiences alike. The oral history “Memory Project” documents a geriatric generation and their memories for posterity before a way of life disappears
Educator & Active Parent
Vaishali is a high school Biology teacher with experience across education boards in India. She started her journey with NGOs in the Mumbai slums, teaching (and learning from) children at risk. The birth of her daughter resulted in a long sabbatical from work, and opened up exciting avenues of early learning and writing. It was a new, challenging phase of life with continuous learning and daily tests given by her little one. She now squeezes out time to blog about early learning and active parenting. She strongly believes that nurturing the children of today is the only way towards creating a peaceful and progressive society.
