Betta Maggio
Betta Maggio is a serial entrepreneur from the age of 21 and she is the CEO and Founder of U-earth Biotechnologies. U-earth is the first biotech company in the world to deal with air purification in a professional environment, using biological air purification through patents and exclusive proprietary technologies, derived from 30 years of scientific research in the USA and in Europe.
Betta and a core team of engineers and scientists have developed and industrialized powerful and innovative plug-and-play systems for improving air quality at 360 degrees for all the contaminants at the same time, with no type or size limits, naturally destroying then by feeding them to friendly harmless concentrated bacteria.
Since 2012 she has been fully committed in making the world a better place by implementing the Pure Air Zone Project, which aims to create clean air areas in indoor and outdoor settings which are able to capture and destroy air pollution faster that its current global generation rate.
Betta is a very optimistic, energetic, passionate and resilient person, with a passion for art and design, madly in love with her beautiful 3 children and lifetime partner.
She travels the world to talk to governments, companies, and people about the importance of breathing clean air to live a better, stronger, smarter existence, promoting Pure Air Zones to overcome and reverse the global air pollution crisis for the future generations to be able to thrive.
To her this is a life mission.
Manuela Raimondi
Manuela is currently a full professor of Bioengineering at Politecnico di Milano. From 2003 to 2008 she has directed a Biomechanics lab inside the research hospital I.R.C.C.S. Galeazzi Orthopaedic Institute in Milano. Since 2009 she established the group of Mechanobiology at Politecnico di Milano. She has founded two labs at the campus Leonardo (the Mechanobiology lab and the Live Cell Imaging lab) where she based her team. They develop frontier tools for research in biology, such as nanoengineered stem cell niches, microfluidic bioreactors and miniaturised windows for imaging in vivo. Their long-term goal is to develop the potential of these tools in cell modelling, drug discovery and regenerative medicine. She teach the course Technologies for regenerative medicine at the MS program in Biomedical Engineering. She's the PI of 3 projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC), one Consolidator of fundamental research in stem cell bioengineering and two Proof-of-Concept for the technology transfer of the tools developed within the Consolidator. She's the founder of a start-up company that commercialises these tools.
Silvio Micali
Silvio Micali has been on the faculty at MIT, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department, since 1983.
Silvio’s research interests are cryptography, zero knowledge, pseudorandom generation, secure protocols, and mechanism design and blockchain. In particular, Silvio is the co-inventor of probabilistic encryption, Zero-Knowledge Proofs, Verifiable Random Functions and many of the protocols that are the foundations of modern cryptography.
In 2017, Silvio founded Algorand, a fully decentralized, secure, and scalable blockchain which provides a common platform for building products and services for a borderless economy. At Algorand, Silvio oversees all research, including theory, security and crypto finance.
Silvio is the recipient of the Turing Award (in computer science), of the Gödel Prize (in theoretical computer science) and the RSA prize (in cryptography). He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and Accademia dei Lincei.
Silvio has received his Laurea in Mathematics from the University of Rome, and his PhD in Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
