Theme: The Generation of Innovation

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Greg Roberts

Mathematician and Teacher

Greg Roberts is a mathematician. He loves coming home from a day's worth of teaching and getting stuck into math problems. He wants students to focus on the problem solving in Math, not the procedure. He tries to impart mathematical thinking skills to his students to prepare them for the math of the future, allowing them to apply their skills learned in the classroom in any field they choose to specialize in.

Ibrahim Usmani

Ibrahim Usmani is a high school student at Repton School Dubai. He pushes himself beyond the curriculum in Math and the Sciences. He loves to innovate and learn new things. He asks questions often and loves discussing theories with others. He is also keenly interested in Cricket, which has led to him being chosen as the captain of his high school's cricket team.

Ishan Maheshwari

Ishan Maheshwari is a high school student with an especially keen interest in Computer Science and Big Data. He has won several awards in domestic and international competitions displaying his academic excellence and creativity in a countless many places. He is always ready to take on a new challenge and is waiting to take on his next one

Jamil Karabaev

Jamil Karabaev is a high school student at Repton School Dubai. He is interested in Math, Science and the Brain. He always tries to give concepts a new spin.

Mohammed Abdulghaffar Hussain

Environmentalist and Entrepreneur (Chairman of Creek Capital)

Muhammad Abdulghaffar Hussain is an Emirati entrepreneur and pioneer of the Emirati solar energy industry. He has a keen interest in physics and climate change, which drives him to innovate. Living in Dubai for most of his life, he has seen Dubai's rapid development and is now working to make Dubai's enormous energy consumption more sustainable using the most abundant resource Dubai has - the Sun.

Vincenzo Longhi

Vincenzo Longhi is a high school student who questions everything. From the most complex topics in electromagnetism to the basis of the scientific method itself, he strives to know how it works and why it works. He wants to specialize in physics in the future and is well on his way to doing just that.
