For nearly three months, communities across Australia have been in lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic. With the first wave of infections under control, we can now look forward to going back to a semblance of normal life.

But the world we go back to will be different in many ways - big and small. What does this new normal look like? What can we do to stay positive and safe? How can we help each other on the path to recovery so we can thrive together in this new future?

TEDxCanberraSalon 2020: Thrive will feature the biggest minds and emerging artists that Canberra has to offer in an original, virtual experience.

Darren Menachemson

With lightning speed, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted, sometimes tragically, the lives of billions of people around the world. But it has also created some signs of hope - signs that it is possible for us to live, maybe even thrive, in a very different way - and one that is less destructive, and one that could transform our society for the better. Designer and ethicist Darren Menachemson shares an optimistic vision for a post-pandemic future that would leave the world in better shape than it is today, if we can harness the necessary ethical conviction and persistence.
