For millions of years, the ability to recognize patterns and anomalies was necessary for human survival. However, this evolutionary skill has left us with implicit bias, or subconscious preferences for familiar things. Unfortunately, these preferences often lead to unacknowledged and/or unconscious acts of discrimination in our modern world.
