Amelie Flatt
Amelie Flatt is 22 years old and from Germany. She spent three years in Salem and completed her IB there in 2014. Throughout school and university she
has lived in the UK, in France, in Italy, in Peru, and in the US.
Currently, she is living in Berlin and studies mathematics. Besides her interest in
mathematics, she is an avid traveler, speaks several languages, and is passionate about music, running and good discussions.
Behram Hathi
Behram Hathi is a student at Schule Schloss Salem.
Dehua (David) Zhu
Based at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich), Dehua Zhu works at CERN on the CMS experiment. His current work involves the search for heavy neutral leptons possibly produced during proton collisions in the Large Hadron Collider. The discovery of such provides clues to the origin of dark matter in the universe. During the years of leading a non-profit organization, Dehua Zhu has explored the similarities of scientific discoveries and entrepreneurship. He and his team created the first virtual job fair in Switzerland and ETH’s largest hackathon while running a digital job searching platform.
Don Keeler
Don Keeler is a mathematics tutor and substitute teacher at Schule Schloss Salem in Überlingen, Germany.
He grew up in the United States near Philadelphia, PA. After graduating from the US Naval Academy, he served 12 years on active duty in flying and staff positions. His last tour of duty was in London, where he met and married Karin, his wife of 33 years.
After leaving the Navy Don flew emergency medical airlift missions and business aircraft in Dallas, Texas. In Boston he worked at his church’s worldwide headquarters, was a software project manager, and a full-time, stay-at-home Dad in between several recalls to active duty in the Navy.
In 2000 Don, Karin, Ben and Nate moved to Germany, where Don worked at the Headquarters of the US European Command in Stuttgart. A fully accredited Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Don investigated cases for the Department of Defense throughout Europe. He retired in 2008 and found new outlets for his many interests, including horseback riding, scuba diving, paragliding and sailing…and mathematics.
