We are thrilled to bring the passion, spirit and energy that is TEDxWomen to the Seattle metro area. Join us for this one-day global event!
The speaker lineup for this milestone event has been released, and it is an amazing group of women and men including Barbara Walters, Mehmet Oz, Tan Le, Gloria Steinem and the "Google Girls", young women who took first place at the first annual Google Science Fair. And, in Seattle, we will hear live from our special guests, Lili Cheng, a powerful tech visionary and head of Microsoft's Future Social Experiences Lab (FUSE Lab) which is focused on social connectivity and real-time and media rich experiences, Ginny Ruffner, a pioneering artist who is shaping our world through art and creative resilience, and Rose McAleese, an award-winning poet, writer and filmmaker whose recently published collection of poetry is entitled "Strong. Female. Character."
TEDxWomen is a TEDx event organized by the Paley Center that focuses on women, and women's issues. (Visit www.tedxwomen.org) TEDxWomen type events are TEDx events hosted around the live webcast of TEDxWomen, and also feature local speakers. Our event is called TEDxSouthLakeUnionWomen, and is one of the many TEDx events happening around the globe on December 1 that will expand on the ideas brought up at TEDWomen.
We will host 100 women at EMP’s JBL Theater to watch a live simulcast of TEDxWomen and participate in a global conversation about how women and girls are shaping and re-shaping the future.
UPDATE 28Nov2011: Reel Grrls will be filming our live speakers at TEDxSouthLakeUnionWomen. Reel Grrls is a local nonprofit that empowers young women from diverse communities to realize their power, talent and influence through media production. See www.reelgrrls.org.
