TEDxOmaha Salon: Racism & Implicit Bias
Summary: A review of TED Talks on the subject matter of race and intersectionality ending with a discussion and a review of Omaha resources
The American narrative is littered with complexity layered atop complexity. The protests, riots, and civil disobedience which have permeated through our timelines and newsfeeds are a response to seeded distrust between different groups in our society, particularly, people of color.
The TEDxOmaha June Salon will take a look at racism in America by reviewing previous TED talks which illustrate the African American narrative. In a safe space, we will allow a platform for conversation and response. We will then close by providing the group with Omaha-specific resources to better advocate and self-educate.
The TEDxOmaha 2020 theme is IGNITE. One should expect to leave this Salon with a lit spark. Our most sincere hope is that you feed that spark with knowledge from the resources you will be provided. The ensuing blaze is what revolutions and systemic change are made from.
