In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Hiro Baba

Ceramic Artist He pursues the world of color in ceramics. He is the eldest son of Baba Kyusuo, the head of the Shinemon Kiln. He graduated from Takeo High School, Doshisha University, and Arita University of Ceramics. While studying the management of an old store in Kyoto, he also studied cultural properties. He joined Shinemon Kiln in 2003, and is mainly in charge of tea ceremony utensils and sake vessels. After working on various projects such as the dedication of a plate with a cross at Kurashiki Church, he became the manager of Shinemon Kiln in 2021. He contributes to society by donating his works to the Kyoto Newspaper Charity Art Exhibition every year.

Kei Zenimoto

Fisherman Born in Suita City, Osaka Prefecture in March 1984 and raised in Akashi City, Hyogo Prefecture. Graduated from Nagasaki University, Faculty of Fisheries. Ph.D. in Environmental Studies from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the University of Tokyo. After working as a special researcher at the Atmosphere and Ocean Research Institute, the University of Tokyo, he was a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow (PD) at Nagasaki University. He has been working as a consultant for regional development projects at MIT since April 2015, and established Flat Hour, LLC with Hirokazu Susaki in April 2016.

Kosuzu Harada

Granddaughter of a survivor of the atomic bombings in both Hiroshima and Nagasaki Her grandfather, Tsutomu Yamaguchi (1916-2010), was exposed to the atomic bombing twice, in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and since 2011 she has been sharing my grandfather's experience of the double bombing and my passion for non-nuclear peace. She has given 300 lectures to elementary and junior high schools, high schools, universities, and citizens in Nagasaki and other parts of Japan.

Leki Nagahara

Owner of iBB / President of Mitsuguruma, LLC Born in 1982 in Kaiyo-cho, Kaifu-gun, Tokushima Prefecture. After graduation from university, he worked in Tokyo, the U.S., and Australia while studying surfing, music, and art. In the winter of 2017, he completed a 1,300km pilgrimage to 88 sacred sites in Shikoku with an indigo-dyed skateboard, and established the indigo studio "inBetweenBlues" by the sea in his hometown of Kaiyo. He is currently based at iBB, where he is working to promote a lifestyle that is kind to people and nature, and to convey the appeal of his hometown's nature and traditional culture through workshops, event production, and the creation of products based on the themes of surfing, indigo, Kukai, and festivals.

Takahiro Yagi

The 6th generation of Kaikado Born in 1974, graduated from Kyoto Sangyo University in 1997 with a degree in English and American Studies, and joined Amita Corporation. In 2000, he joined Kaikado, and while working hard to acquire the skills to make tea caddies, which he has been making since the company's founding, he changed his customer base from “B to B” to “B to C,” and aggressively expanded his business not only in Japan but also in overseas markets. Starting in London, he has expanded to Taiwan, North America, and Europe, and has recently been focusing on Asia. The company has expanded its business to include design and interior design, with a focus on the world's tea industry. In 2012, he formed a project called "GO ON", which consists of young successors of the same generation who are responsible for traditional crafts in Kyoto, and is working to promote traditional crafts in Japan and abroad. In 2018, he was appointed as a special collaborative researcher at the Center for Innovation in Traditional Industries, Kyoto Seika University.

Teruta Kase

Born in Nagasaki City (age 69), owner of Nagasaki Embroidery Workshop (1995-), lecturer at Embroidery classes (1997-), Nagasaki Embroidery Rediscovery School (2002-), Employment support facilities (2014-), etc. Certified as a holder of Nagasaki embroidery techniques, designated as an intangible cultural property by Nagasaki Prefecture in 2010. In 2010, he was certified as a holder of Nagasaki embroidery techniques, an intangible cultural property designated by Nagasaki Prefecture. He continues to work diligently to make Nagasaki a town with embroidery.
