In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Dr Adrian Gleiss is the research leader for marine megafauna at the Harry Butler Institute in Perth, Western Australia, and a senior lecturer in Marine Biology at Murdoch University.

Alan Jamieson

Marine Biologist and Deep Ocean Explorer

Professor Alan Jamieson is the founding Director of the Minderoo-UWA Deep Sea Research Centre at the University of Western Australia. His research is focused on the deepest places in our oceans. He was the first British person to dive below 6km and at that time the 8th deepest diving person in history.

Emily Lester

Marine Scientist

Dr Emily Lester is a marine scientist at the Australian Institute of Marine Science, and a passionate advocate for the inclusion of women in science. Mick O'Leary

Marine Geoscientist

Dr Mick O’Leary is a multidisciplinary marine scientist at the University of Western Australia. His research themes include climate change, reef resilience, coastal evolution and submerged landscape archaeology. Thank you to the Ngarda-Ngarli traditional owner groups who supported the underwater archaeological research in Murujuga and provided permissions for their stories to be told; to the fellow researchers at UWA, Flinders and James Cook Universities whose collective efforts lead to the discovery of indigenous underwater archaeological sites in Murujuga.
