The event theme runs around the concept embodied in the word "consensi" and around its multiple readings.
One of these readings, the most important in our opinion, can already be seen from the play of lights and shadows featured on the logo. Indeed, the underlying idea is that of encouraging the speakers to interpret their experience -personal or professional- that they will bring on stage in a multisensory key.
A chef could narrate the importance of his work through taste and smell, a musician could praise hearing, an artist could teach how to feel emotions with eyesight, a robotic technology expert could investigate touch. Or perhaps, why not, each of them could decide to offer to the audience a new and alternative point of view, that goes beyond the usual habits and direct associations to which we are accustomed.
The goal is to make sure that every speaker portrays his idea of "consent" not only thinking about the most common meaning -of approval from those around us- but also and above all about the deepest one, which is embodied in the term's etymology. In Latin, "cum-sentire" means "feeling together the same sensations" and this is what we would want to stimulate with every speech: an act of sharing, through the five senses, of one's ideas and emotions, which is always have been the core of the Ted events' spirit.
