Dr Argita Zalli holds a PhD in Immunology and an MSc in University Learning and Teaching.
Over the past 10 years she has conducted medical research in the fields of Immunology,
Haematology and Psychobiology where she has collaborated with world leading scientists,
including Nobel Prize Winner and published in high impacted research journals.
Dr A Zalli has focused on teaching and pedagogical training of university teaching staff in Imperial College, London.
Dr A. Zalli is also the founder of We Speak Science, a non-profit institution, the aim of
Which, is to increase awareness of science and medicine in the USA and Europe.
Through We Speak Science, Dr A. Zalli co-founded the charity called “Aferdita Ime”,
whose aim is to help cancer patients through psycho-social support and counselling.

Baccalaureate. I am a 16 year old from Merthyr Tydfil in South Wales. At
UWC, I study 6 subjects alongside the Theory of Knowledge curriculum. My
3 higher level subjects are English Language and Literature, Economics and
Social and Cultural Anthropology. I have a passion for sports, particularly rugby.
I’ve played since the age of 6 and continue to do so whenever Ican. My UWC
journey is one like no other, and I cannot wait to share it with you!

Derek Redmond
Former Olympian Motivational Speaker
One of Britain’s most famous athletes, Derek Redmond is a British, European , Commonwealth and World Champion athlete. At the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, representing his country he became part of one of the most inspirational scenes in Olympic history.
In the 400m semi-final Derek went into the race amongst the favourites but as he passed the 250m mark he tore his hamstring. Determined to finish the race he hobbled to the finish line with the help of his father as a 65,000-strong crowd cheered him on. This incident has since been voted one of the Olympics’ most inspirational moments by US network NBC and even referenced by Barack Obama in a presidential speech.
This injury signalled an end to his athletics career.
Derek’s story is truly inspiring and he is now an award winning motivational/inspirational speaker, a business performance coach and a best selling author.
Detina Zalli
Assistant Professor at the University of Cambridge
Dr. Zall is Director of the Pre-Medical Studies at the University of Cambridge, earned her PhD at the University of Leicester, UK and then moved to Boston, where she carried out her postdoctoral research training at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Zalli acted as the Director of the Advanced Graduate Preclinical and Clinical Research Course and the Director of the Biotech Journal Club at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Zalli joined Harvard Professional Government and chaired multiple important events.
Dr Zalli then moved to the University of Oxford. Dr. Zalli is committed to assisting people in need. In 2020, Dr Zalli She is also very passionate about helping students from low socio-economic backgrounds (including students from Ukraine) and has led many STEM events via her non-profit organisation, We Speak Science, in collaboration with faculty from Harvard University, MIT, Yale University, the University of Oxford and scientists from NASA to inspire students pursue STEM careers

Tony Holness
Advocate for neurodiversity
Tony Holness is an advocate for neurodiversity and Triathlon coach to his autistic son. After a successful career in IT and Banking Tony left the corporate world to help his son realise his dream of becoming the world’s first Ironman Triathlete with autism to compete and the Ironman World Championships in Kona and to become the world’s first openly autistic Professional Triathlete.
Sam was diagnosed with autism at three years old and was non-verbal until he was six years old. The prognosis from the education psychologist and some of his teachers was that he may never speak and that we should set low expectations for his social, communication and academic future.
Sam challenged these perceptions and achieved a BSc degree in Sports Science, grade 2.1, from St Mary’s University
Tony and Sam want to raise the awareness of autism and change perceptions about what autistic people are capable of through sport.
