In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Cynthia Corona

Cynthia Corona is a Mexican graphic designer and travel creator living in Shanghai. She has been living abroad for more than 10 years, in different countries like Spain, Belgium, England and now in China. Her hunger to travel and experience new cultures has led her to document her life on a daily basis and create an online community. She focuses on a positive mindset and uses social media to share her travel experiences and express herself through her other passion, the art of photography and videography. She seeks to inspire people to pursue their dreams, travelling and living abroad as a once in a lifetime experience.

Linjing Jiang

Dr. Linjing Jiang (PhD, Heidelberg University) is associate professor of German Language and Literature. Her research interests are: political philosophy and political theology in German Literature, literary criticism of the German jurist Carl Schmitt, the interactive influence between German classical music and literature, German poetry in the 19th and 20th century. She has published widely on literature, religion and arts in Chinese, German and English. She also serves as a core member of Shanghai Translators Association as well as an initiative young scholar’s group called “Sharon’s Roses”, who focuses on multilingual creative writing and translation.

Maria Pastorelli

Maria has 13 years of experience living and working in Shanghai, where she has supported individuals and organizations with coaching and training services since 2011. Taking a gamble on entrepreneurship, she has been running her consulting business for the past six years. Holding an ACC credential from the International Coaching Federation and a degree in cross-cultural communication, she helps executives, teams, and organizations in APAC and Europe improve their leadership and collaboration skills across cultures. She’s very passionate about women’s development, which led her to create and lead the Global Women Entrepreneur Network (G.W.E.N.) since 2018, a learning and sharing community for women entrepreneurs, be involved in the Mentor Walks Shanghai and become a certified #IamRemarkable (Google initiative) facilitator.

Paul Chu

Paul moved to Shanghai half a year ago to manage Museum of Ice Cream, an immersive attraction that uses the universal motif of ice cream to inspire imagination and bring happiness to everyone. Before this, he worked for the Singapore government and pioneered the team to develop the country’s wellness tourism industry. He has experience in product development, partnerships and strategy in the areas of arts, culture and tourism. Paul is passionate about learning and was a social science geek who loved to read all he could at University of Cambridge and The University of Chicago. He has lived in 5 different countries and hopes to continue experiencing the world. Paul also loves to discover new restaurants and cafes, and is always game to try something new and explore a new neighbourhood.

Xenia Sidorenka

Xenia is an international Fashion Designer, who transforms her own understanding of a designer mission in the 21st century, where products should be designed to be sustainable. Born in Russia in St Petersburg, she moved to China in 2011 to work closely with local Denim factories. Through 13 years experience of mass production in the textile industry, she decided to found, in 2015 an upcycle brand, UseDem. UseDem is a brand committed to save drinking water and reducing textile waste by both upcycling used garments and discarded production inventory. UseDem provides sustainable business solutions to the problematic impact that the fashion and others industries impose on the environment.
