Alex is an eleventh grader at Avenues: The World School in New York City at the time of the conference. Her passion is motorsports, and she has focused her curriculum on innovative trends in environmentally-friendly car design. Recently, Alex has worked in sales at Volvo's Polestar division, earned an MVP Award at teen race camp, and founded the school's Automotive and Engineering Club. Alex plans to pursue her twin interests in design and engineering at a college that sponsors a Formula SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) race team.
Cash Moore

Cash, a junior at Avenues: The World School in New York City, has a strong interest in exploring how human behavior impacts society, specifically on a political level. He has actively participated in several communities at Avenues, including a gender studies class, a climate/political activist club, and a critical thinking class, all of which align with his interests. As he continues to pursue his academic career, Cash aims to further develop his critical thinking skills and explore additional topics he's passionate about, and perhaps pursue a future in the social sciences fields.
Catherine Mellett Felix

Catherine "Marie" Mellett Felix is an immigrant from the south of Mexico and a feminist at heart. Her work in activism centers around creating effective and spreadable ways of improving society’s values towards a more gender-equal environment. Coming from Latin america, she has viewed closely the underlying rules that are created to keep women oppressed, some obvious and easier to confront, and some unspoken ways in which society has always functioned and will continue to if there isn’t action from everyone. She will continue her work in calling her generation to act on this and many other current world issues within the foreseeable future.

Julia Chicayban

Julia, a Brazilian-American student in the class of 2025 at Avenues: The World School, is driven by a passion for medicine and sustainability. Motivated by this passion, she embarked on a journey within the Mastery program at Avenues to explore the intersection of sustainability and medicine, delving into the world of bioplastics and medical devices. Julia's passion materialized in the form of a prototype of a sustainable, biodegradable syringe—a solution created to mitigate plastic waste in the medical industry. With hopes to bring her innovative product to the market, she remains committed to advancing her research. Beyond her medical pursuits, Julia’s interests also include social sciences, fashion, economics, and languages.

Nikola Champlin

Nikola Champlin received her M.F.A. from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and her B.A. from Yale University. Her writing focuses on ecopoetics—our ongoing environmental crisis depicted in poetry—and her work has appeared in Off the Coast, The Denver Quarterly, Spoon River Poetry Review, and The Alexandria Quarterly, among other publications. She teaches 10th Grade English at Avenues: The World School in New York City.

Sophia Lande is a sophomore at Avenues: The World School in New York City. As an aspiring environmental scientist, Sophia conducts research investigating the impacts of human activity on natural ecosystems and is interested in exploring the different ways we perceive and can help combat climate change. In her free time, she plays clarinet in an orchestra and loves to travel.
