Dr. Agha Ali Raza

Professor

Dr. Raza serves as an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at LUMS and is the inaugural director of the Center for Speech and Language Technologies (CSaLT). He earned the title of Fulbright Scholar and completed his Ph.D. from the Language Technologies Institute at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, USA. Over the past twelve years, he has imparted knowledge as a member of the Computer Science faculty at institutions like FAST-NU, ITU, and LUMS. His academic passions include NLP, Speech and Language Processing, and ICT4D.

Originally hailing from Civil Service of Pakistan, Dr. Amjad Saqib is founder and Chairman of Akhuwat, the largest interest-free microfinance program in the world. He is also working as Chairman Punjab Development Network which is a network of more than 160 development and charity organizations, working for social and economic development especially in areas like poverty, education, health, clean drinking water and sanitation. He is Executive Director, Fountain house - an Institute of treatment and rehabilitation of mentally challenged people. His areas of expertise include governance, poverty alleviation, microfinance and rural development.
