In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Carl Patterson

Carl Patterson was born in Jersey City, NJ and now resides in Oklahoma City, OK. He has acquired a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master's degree in Counseling from Southern Nazarene University. Carl is also a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate and a spoken word performer. He presented at the 2017 University of Central Oklahoma Tedx event and he is the author of the upcoming poetry books titled, The Mis-Execution of a Black Son and Hate, and Everything Else We Survived.

Chuck Ralls

City Manager of Comanche, OK

Chuck Ralls has served as the city manager of Comanche Oklahoma for the past seven years. He chose to pursue a career in municipal government after working in the private sector for over two decades. Chuck is a fifth-generation Okie and he is proudly leading his hometown where collectively his family has served for over eighty-five years. He is passionate about mentoring students and preparing the next generation for the challenges they may face entering the workforce. In 2017 Chuck received a special commendation from Governor Mary Fallin for his work with the Oklahoma Workforce Commission through student engagement. He has also been involved with the UCO MPA program over the past six years, helping prepare future municipal and non-profit leaders. Chuck has also spoken at conferences such as the Oklahoma Municipal League and the City Manager’s Association on best practices for mentoring students and working with interns.

Jennifer Williams Molock

Assistant Vice President, Inclusive Community at the University of Central Oklahoma

Dr. Jennifer Williams Molock is a high-energy, enthusiastic professional with broad experiences spanning the educational pipeline of K-12, postsecondary undergraduate/graduate students. She understands the importance of Inclusive Excellence as she leads institutional levels of community, belonging, diversity, and equity efforts in her role as Assistant Vice President for Inclusive Community at the University of Central Oklahoma. Over the years Dr. Molock has led and cultivated innovative initiatives for Black and Brown girls and women serving as a mentor, coach, and educator. Dr. Molock is the Founder and President of Crown Control, a school and community-based leadership development and mentoring organization for Black/African American girls and young women. Crown Control is an entity of The JMo Empowerment Group, LLC which she co-founded with her husband, Jay aimed at empowering individuals and groups to seek “Excellence on Purpose.”

Laurel Wilson

Laurel Wilson was born and raised in Denver, CO. She received her bachelor's degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration from Oklahoma State University. Wilson is the Bestselling co-author of the book ‘Keep Looking Up: Transforming Grief into Hope After Tragedy.’ Laurel Wilson grew up in a loving home and family life with mom as a successful Entrepreneur and dad as a corporate salesman living the typical American life. She lost her father to suicide with no explanation and three years later she lost her brother the same way. Laurel realized that she has a choice with these tragedies, to give in to the grief or to fuel her reason to live. She decided to use these tragedies to bring some good into the world by creating a positive guide for those who are suffering from loss and for those close to them. She hosts a weekly podcast, The Coop Chicks in Charge podcast, featuring a guest boss Chick every week. Malena was nominated as a Journal Record Woman Making a Difference in 2022 and the Alpha Chi Omega Woman of the Year in 2022. She’s a wife and mom of three and loves yoga, hiking, travel, and reading.
